hey everyone! is their any kind souls out their willing to give me tips and advise, and tips for anyone in general who are being invaded.
i got invaded twice already and died both times so easily, im upto the blacksmith area under the church just after the twin gargoyles
the first invader had a purple aura with a purple sword, he swinged his sword the first time and made my sheild fly across the sky, then hit me again and did a 1 hit k.o
the second invader looked twice my size (wtf!???) ok not twice, but he was really tall, and the sword he was carrying (i dont even know if i should call that a sword) killed my freind phantom in 1 hit, made me run away half way across the level (he was chasing me non stop, i was carring alot of souls so please forgive me for running) he eventually catched up to me and killed me again 1 hit k.o
is this a joke, demon souls was never this brutal with invaders >:/
is their any advise you guys and gals can give .:(
im a level 21 pyromancer.
also any advice on farming souls and humanity????
Dark Souls
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Sep 22, 2011
A quasi-sequel to From Software's action-RPG Demon's Souls, set in a new universe while retaining most of the basic gameplay and the high level of challenge. It features a less-linear world, a new checkpoint system in the form of bonfires, and the unique Humanity system.
any tips on dealing with invaders?
Demon's Souls Invading was more of a tactical thing. From the invaded perspective, you know where the black phantom is coming from so you and whatever phantoms you have with you should set a trap so that he in theory fall for it and die in the said trap. For the Invader, you have to go in knowing that there might be a trap. Some, I'd say most, just usually fall for the trap. So just do that.
And the only requirement for being invaded is being on the same server and being alive. He might have been high level, so shit sucks dude.
can the invader see my name tag above my character? if not then yh i can set up ambushes like i did in demon souls, @alex i tried hitting one , it only did 1% damage :\
Don't play in human mode if you don't want to be invaded. Also, invaders are always near your level so you should be able to do more than 1% damage to them, unless they are hackers.
I've only been invaded once. The guy waved at me so I approached cautiosly, he then dropped 7 firebombs on the floor and left.
I usually break their stamina with a flurry of 2h attacks since all they try to do is spin around you.
Then they usually freak out and the game is yours.
If you want to know why you keep dying to people that seem a lot stronger than you it is because they are most likely twinks.
The weapons in this game don't have very high equip requirements so a lot of people just get their stats up to what they need to weld a weapon, bump their vit/end up a few levels, and then stay there so they can kill new players.
Ascended weapons do much more damage than scaling weapons on average, so not only is this tactic common but the mechanics almost encourage it.
as for getting your guard broken , you might nto have the enough strength for the shield .. it will still let you use it but it gets knocked back super easy .. or you are using one with very little Stability .. which a veyr heavy weapon will cut through like butter ..
also at this soul level .. invaders are gonna be twinks for sure , as it requires you to get pretty far in the game and also stay low soul level to invade people , just due to the nature of this , invaders WILL BE crazy ppl
thats why i like the SL 175-225 kind of bracket of pvp , people are more .... serious .. less trolling more skilled rolling .. (dont ask me why i had to make a catch phrase)
As someone else above said, Ring of Fog is really helpful against invasions. If you really don't want to even fight people, you could just pull out your ethernet cable or not turn off your system, I believe you do retain your humanity and souls at least. In the Catacombs, you can get the Miracle "Tranquil Walk of Peace" whch is an AoE spell that the Stone Knight's in Darkroot Garden use to slow people down to a walk and makes them unable to dodge. Basically my strategy at this point is to use that and a Ring of Fog and I practically never lose, though my armor and weapons help as well.
A good place to grind is the Darkroot Garden second area that you unlock beside the bonfire behind the invisible wall, there's plenty of phantoms there that you can farm. If they're too high leveled for you though, if you go into the Depths and find the quick path between theBonfire in the hall of slimes and the creepy ass frog things, you can farm them for souls a lot easier, just watch out for curses is all. On your way to the frog things there's rats as well, which are the enemy with the highest rate of Humanity drops (and even then it's fairly rare) as far as I know, so you can farm them on your way to the frogs. The specific path to get to where I'm talking about requires you to go out of the bonfire room and through the door directly through your right, and then to the immediate left of the room you will come out in is a hidden ladder behind crates, go down there, through the door, down the stairs, then where you come out turn left and go straight and you should run into 3 big rats and a small one, then just follow the path from there and repeat.
My thing has always been to keep them at a distance. I've been invaded twice, and the range with a spear seems to keep them at bay. I jab once, put up my Greatshield, they try to strike, and while they attempt to do this, you poke with the shield up.
It feels almost a little cheap, but damn. The guy was coming at me with a sword that was inflicting toxic, I had to!
I found that the tentacle-headed monsters in the Duke's Archives are the easiest to farm humanity from. They drop about 1-3 per spawn, and are less than a minute from a bonfire, so you can maximize your farming efficiency. The only problem is this is fairly late game, post Anor-Londo.
I usually wait for them to make the fist move, because then I can calculate my attack and see how they move. One guy kept trying to hit me with heavy attack and since they're so telegraphed I can parry or get to the back of them with easy.
@GeneralMojo_786: I used to die to invaders constantly until i got the endurance to wear havels armor / shield and not walk like i had 2 peg legs and was on a bed of sand. I had all the chaos spells for pyro and basically just sit there and shield while they run around trying to find an opening. I just swap to pyro flame and throw out some chaos fireballs and they usually just die. (Works VERY well in tight corridors) I do know this helps ALOT with wearing havels armor and shield when they use that damn slow spell since they can get backstabs easier which the armor saves you a ton of damage + it has crazy resistance to magic. Since your a pyro, i would suggest going heavy armor since your spells are going to be your best friend. I farmed the forest for the 6k souls for awhile till i hit anor londo and got the 2 5k soul mobs. Humanity, just farm rats or dont go human every time, wait till you are ready for a boss fight :D

agreed, thats just plain dumb!
Sometimes you're farming in human mode to get better drops and people are not looking for a fun time to lose all their humanity and hours worth of farming.
If that's the case then you really have no business even playing online. When I play Dark Souls I make a choice: online or offline depending on whether I want to experience PvP or not. Please don't ruin the game for everyone else and do the same.
Or just play hollowed, because all it seems to affect is whether you can interact with other players or not.

I'd say how and what I do is absolutely up to me. Unless the game put in a mechanic that actually punished me for dashboarding out when I get invaded then all is fair. That said I only have been invaded once before and my experience was that my opponent was moving erratically because of what I assume was a bad internet connection between us - he's right in front of me and I have my guard up and everything and all of a sudden I'm getting backstabbed out of nowhere.
Being human greatly increases your drop rate possibility. I really want the Black Knight halbard and theres only so many Halbard wielding Black Knights in the game so I wanna buff up on humanity as much as I can before I kill one.
So me playing in human form for the benefit of summoning help with bosses and getting better drops, getting ganked by a black phantom in some terrible spot and losing about a couple of hours of gamepaly is fine - but disconnecting and just kicking you out of my world is "ruining the game" for that person? Yah, whatever.

It's basically the same as rage quitting in a fighting game, and I don't know a single person who doesn't think that that's totally lame. Black phantoms benefit greatly from invading other worlds and winning. When you take that from them by pulling your internet connection or whatever, you're fucking up their experience. If you're fine with that: cool, whatever. But don't act like it's not it's not going to be an issue for the people who you do it to.
It's risk versus reward when it comes to playing as a human, and the game gives you enough ways to opt out if you don't want to deal with it without being a little bit of an asshole.
I'm in human form because I want help with a boss. I don't appreciate the constant invasions. I'm scared to go human form now.

All that happens is they'll get back to their world and press X or square to invade again.
Thats a great example of your risk reward - they risk not getting rewarded.
Thats also not being an asshole - being an asshole was invading peoples world in Demons Souls with a scrapped spear with no intention of winning the duel but completely messing up your opponents equipment so that they have to spend thousands of souls to repair it.

I can't speak for anyone by myself, but there are wait times upwards to 30 minutes for invasions with my forest covenant. If I wait that long and the guy I invade rage quits as soon as I get in there, that's a problem. It ruins my experience. When I have the opportunity to acquire a crap ton of souls and maybe some upgrade materials from these invasions and the guys that I get matched with puss out and run away, that's ruining the experience. In any other game that behavior is frowned upon. Dark Souls shouldn't be any different just because you're risking a lot by making yourself available for invasions.
