I was talking more in line of what people are doing with the Infinity engine games, like Baldur's Gate or Planescape Torment. That engine is not moddable at all, but it didn't stop them from doing total conversions and HDifying them.

I may be wrong and Dark Souls' port can be a piece of shit, though.

If you're going to port something over to the PC, why not allow it to use all the power a PC can produce? Just such a silly statement to make.

im sure it just means there not going to go and re-render all the assets for the PC version which to be honest look great on the PS3 anyway. all i really care about is the frame rate and the game not running at 2FPS in some parts.

There are graphic driver workarounds for this for older games which do not support high resolutions.

There are even ways to edit registry/game files to unlock higher framerates.

In the end, you can never beat PC gamers, they will find a way to get what they want.

But an artificial 30 fps frame limit is just idiotic. I don't get the logic behind such a thing, why sabotage your own product? The next thing will be a lower limit on load times. God forbid it should be to fast.

It will be interesting to see if the pirate version gets fixed like they did with LA Noir.

Pirates got 60fps, 16:10 ar and larger FOV after the developers had failed in doing so.

Mass Effect 2 PC. Plays a video, and the loads last as long as the videos. Fine for consoles, but on PC when you replace the BIK files it loads super fast and doesnt have to play the video.

I mean, I have a theory that Namco thinks having everyone locked at 30fps would make the game more fair during PVP matches or something silly like that.

I had completely forgotten about that, even though I used a custom moviepak myself.

It would be interesting to hear how these decisions get made. What argument was behind having people looking at loading screens for 20 seconds. They did not contain any info regarding to the story.

I don't wanna play one of this generations defining masterpiece because it runs in 720p and 30 fps! I'll just bitch and complain and talk about how awesome my PC is and how awesome Dark Souls could have been running in 1080p at 60fps on my amazing 24 horse power processor that didn't cost much and outdates the PS3 by 35 years.

I really love how you give the implication that we're all PC gamers. I played the game on the PS3 and loved it. I see Namco is botching the PC port, and you're telling me I have no right to complain about it JUST because I'm also a PC gamer? Get off your high-horse kid.

I said it made me contemplate buying it. Sometimes when a game looks and feels so exotic and strange, with mad level design and art such as Dark Souls', the graphical capabilities of a PC can turn it into a film-like experience from the future. Graphics are NOT the reason one should buy a game, but they sure as hell play a huge aesthetic role with unique games such as this one. I wouldn't be surprised if the immersion and eye-gasm of maxing out Dark Souls on my 570 would make me more willing to progress in it and keep playing it.

Have you seen the Silent Hill HD collection. 30fps would be a major step up. I read the 720p thing as that they would be doing a quick and dirty port rather than re-doing all the textures etc.

Probably because...The thing with those games...I'm sure FROM has...Dude I got nothing. Who the fuck knows man. I am gonna say it's because they want all three version to be exactly the same. Also, it's FROM. Who the hell knows the real reason. It does seem odd to have platform with more power and not use it. Maybe it's just lack of experience with PC gaming. Japan is not very well knows for it's PC community.
