Not entirely surprising considering this is basically Demons Souls II but without the Sony-owned name, but as far as artstyle and general design goes it looks nearly identical to Demons Souls. First screenshots came out - would've added them to the gallery, but they're watermarked.
Dark Souls
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Sep 22, 2011
A quasi-sequel to From Software's action-RPG Demon's Souls, set in a new universe while retaining most of the basic gameplay and the high level of challenge. It features a less-linear world, a new checkpoint system in the form of bonfires, and the unique Humanity system.
Dark Souls Screenshots look eerily familiar
So now the blue phantoms are white. Maybe, this time around the black phantoms will actually be black. =]

Great monster designs. Demon's Souls made my top ten last year -- if this follow-up is as good as it looks and sounds, it'll probably have a decent shot at making this year's top five.

I don't get how From can get away with this though. Can't they be stopped from making this multiplatform just by the freaking art assets? I mean the armor and weapons like like they're literally out of Demon's Souls. Unless Sony owns absolutely nothing but the name, couldn't From be treading on thin ice?

Using the same theme? The same types of weapons? A similar name? If you could sue and/or stop a company from releasing a game because of stuff like that, only about seven games would actually be released every year.
Hell, if that was the case, the owners of the Indiana Jones brand could probably sue Naughty Dog.

Yeah I never thought of it like that I guess. You can't really copyright an Uchigatana :P" @xyzygy said:

I really hope they keep it as hard as the last game was. That was the main part of the game that I found fun, also they need to fix some of the storage stuff just make it more user friendly. OH or even some sort of monster hunt mode that you can go on with your friends.
" @xyzygy said:Whoa that is epic. They literally just took all that old armor and modeled it. Awesome. I still haven't played the first game but the sequel does look interesting and it's on the 360 which is cool.

"You I've spoken to a mod on the Demon's Souls wiki web site and he says that Dark Souls for all intent and purposes is Demon's Souls 2 with a different name. He said Sony only owns the Demon's Souls name but not the IP. Seems odd. What a miss Sony. THen agin no one really expect this game to be received the way it did. Sony missed the boat on this one. This game could have potential system seller but ohh well. At least xbox only gamers will get to enjoy it too, right? Share the love and the fucking frustration...LOL
OHH NO. I just realized. An update version of Maneater. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
