Why?
Dark Souls
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Sep 22, 2011
A quasi-sequel to From Software's action-RPG Demon's Souls, set in a new universe while retaining most of the basic gameplay and the high level of challenge. It features a less-linear world, a new checkpoint system in the form of bonfires, and the unique Humanity system.
No Giant Bomb review?
So maybe they can play enough to get a feel on it?Why?
That or he was unable to finish it..which could happen on a game with this.
If you can't make a decision to get (or not get) darksouls after reading Rorie's editorial, then you should probably just reread the damn thing again. That was basically a review without a score.

But that's the most important part!
You gotta start to learn to read words, instead of just numbers and stars.
I think the Rorie comments were posted in lieu of an official review (because people would complain if he reviewed and attached a score to a game he had yet to finish). I think general consensus is that it's an awesome game if you like that kind of game, and you should totally get it if you do. I know I will (eventually).
After reading the piece Rorie wrote and listening to Vinny and the gang talk about it, do you really need a review. Will a numerical value validate your purchase or non purchase? If you liked Demon Souls, you will dig Dark Souls.
@Dixego: They talked about it a ton on the bombcast, did a 60+ minute "quick" look on it, had an intern video dedicated to discussing it and had rorie write an article on his experiences with it.
The only thing they haven't done is written a review.
I should add it's an incredibly hard game to review, it truly is like marmite: you either love it or hate it.
The thing is that neither Ryan, Jeff or Brad like the game (actually they barely ever gave it a real chance), so in a way I think that it's for the best that they refrain from writing a review on it, Roarie was supposed to do something, but since the game is so huge and time ran short he wrote an article instead, a full review may yet come, but no one knows for sure.I'm not trying to decide wether I buy the game or not. I was just thinking, the lack of a review makes it seem like it isn't getting the amount of attention it should be from GB. But maybe I'm wrong. I would feel better just seeing the review on the front page.
I actually think marmite is alright.@Dixego: They talked about it a ton on the bombcast, did a 60+ minute "quick" look on it, had an intern video dedicated to discussing it and had rorie write an article on his experiences with it.

I think that the GB crew did as much coverage of the game as they possibly could , the editorial is in effect a review of the game for the way it was written , heck even Ryan and Jeff tried the game ... I ah never thought they would , so I think that the game is a big succes and maybe a big candidate for GOTY .
Most reviewers at other outlets have admitted to putting in upwards of 60 hours into the game and they are reviewing it. Perhaps Giant Bomb doesn't want to get into something that long term without knowing if they will be able to actually finish the game or not.

It has the attention. I'll put an estimate at 40 minutes of Whiskey Media podcast time, a MASSIVE Quicklook, and a longer-than-a-review editorial.
Problem is that no reviewer on staff is interested/qualified/specialized enough to handle an 80 hour, gruelingly-difficult RPG during peak release season. Even Roarie couldn't finish it, and he was an avid fan of the original. You need to start listening to some podcasts, bro.

I do believe Aishan's post was a joke not to be taken seriously.
I'm pretty sure they have this unofficial policy, kind of, here they don't review the game fully until they beat it. I don't think any of them will have beaten it for a long while.
