Who Else Thinks Giant Bomb Needs to Give Dark Souls a Second Shot

That's why I don't give a shit about the reviews of any of the GB crew ; they're totally unpro, never on time, and only reviews the major game that you already read hundred of other reviews about.
Wut? Never on time because publishers don't feel like sending early copies of games to people who actually review their games and don't guarantee certain Metacritic scores and the majority of their reviews are for big releases because they have a small staff. I don't know where you get totally unprofessional from either, look at 90% of game reviewers out there, they are miles ahead of any of them.

"Grr I wish these game writers I've never met would play this game I like! It's not fair!!"
"OMG duder stop giving them a hard time they're perfect! I'd happily take Ryan's dick up my ass bro, lay off him!"
Just grow the fuck up and stop caring so much about what a few fat lazy ignorant douches who play games for a living think, they're no better than anyone else and their opinion shouldn't mean a damn to you.
*looks at your post history*
y u mad bro?
I am bored of hearing about this game. They've covered it to death already. Now it just ends up being, "this game is hard, I played this part and died and then I played it again and killed the boss, then I went to the merchant but I couldn't afford this thing and then I grinded souls, and then I bought this thing and then I used the thing and then I went to this other hard part and repeated everything again."

You can start by not commenting on the Dark Souls forum board. Geez. Nobody needs to watch anything they do. I didn't watch the persona 4 endurance run cus it's just them grinding dungeons.
Yes the game has gotten a ton a coverage, but I think it's because they are curious why people say it's so good when it seems like dirt. But with all things, they'll move on to new shit.

@Jrinswand: how did you see it? You are not a premium member,
don't tell somebody uploads the member videos on torrent sites...
It's the internet, ofc you can get it for free somewhere :P While I'm not proud of it I watched it too, and it was pretty good. If only their other exclusive content was as interesting, although this was sort of a special case as it wasn't really about the content shown.

I don't want to speak for either person but I don't think Jeff or Ryan are dismissing it outright. They've been exposed to it quite a bit. I think they know the game well enough to know that it is a game that wasn't designed for them.
This is what I always thought. Ryan seems to like the game in theory and appreciate is, but just has no interest in playing it (which is really understandable). Jeff seems to be a bit more aggressively against the way its designed, which is, honestly, a fair position. But neither have just dismissed it, they've asked tons of questions and learned a lot about it at this point. I'm really getting tired of listening to people complain about how not everyone loves their extremely esoteric game.

@McShank: on 360 Blighttown is basically unplayable, gets down to about 12 fps. As such it has no place anywhere near a GOTY discussion.
thats the same for both platforms. blighttown can easily be played. I never said it would be GOTY overall but for certain categories it should be in the discussion. Just because of 1 fault like the crappy FPS in certain places does not deem a game unworthy of a GOTY award as there have been very very few games like it that have come out recently which means there shouldn't be much to go against.
@Berserker976: I though Jeff was saying he was considering Brad's idea to get rid of them?
And yea, I think this topic is pretty much pointless now seeing as they spent another 2hours playing it. Jeff I think just doesn't like the game and Brad and Patrick have tried playing it. The others have all now given it a shot so....
Edit: My bad the latest video of Ryan playing it is Premium only

@Dany: Whoa, dude. That's not what I said at all. I'm just tired of their shit-slinging. Heard on yesterday's Bombcast:
Ryan: So, Vinny, are you still playing Dark Souls?
Vinny: No, I'm on a hiatus.
Ryan: Good.
It's just unnecessary, especially when Dark Souls is such a good game.
In your defense that bothered me too - not just that, but the fact that Jeff will continuously make derogatory remarks about it. I don't think it needs more coverage though because they had like literally around 3 hours worth of footage about the game, and I can see people who don't care about Dark Souls at all getting frustrated by that. The irony is that a lot of die hard fans of this series really wanted more people to play it and see how great the game is. Now everyone who played the original or is enjoying this part feels like they're part of this exclusive club of people that "get it" and despite wanting the game to do well - maybe don't want to see every type of gamer out there play it. I mean if you have a friend that primarily plays shooters like Halo and CoD, you might not want him to even try Dark Souls in order to save yourself comments like "this game is gay" or whatnot.
I was thinking during the live show on Friday, it's as if Ryan read this thread and decided to check it out since everyone keeps giving him crap about not trying the game out before passing judgement (which actually seemed to be in jest but.. that's not how people are taking it).
Anyway, so I think they gave this game more then a fair chance haha. I don't expect they'd give many games as many chances as this one got to be honest. =P

Some Dark Souls fans are overly sensitive. The game is great, and I commented on the subscriber video how much joy it gave me watching Ryan's face while he fought the Taurus Demon.
@Jrinswand: I was referring more to Ryan playing it and making comments based on what he plays (which we will probably hear more next week if at all) rather then based on what he has heard or seen of others that play it more so then the coverage. The additional coverage was just icing and also proof they all played it at one point- not that it was necessary it just kind of happened that way haha.
As I said when you first posted this, I think the game is great and its one of my favorites of the year and whether they consider it or not during GOTY type stuff doesn't completely matter as for me it will be on my list regardless. =)
Edit: TYPOS! hopefully fixed

Yeah that's real shit slinging. He thinks it's good that Vinny is no longer playing a game that Ryan isn't that in to. Also Ryan was playing it during the tricaster live stream.
I have no interest in watching them play Dark Souls. Watching grown men cry on streaming video is too much for me.
It would be more like the 7th shot! Am I right?! Huh? Huh? You see it's funny cause they played it so much already and gave it so much coverage. Right? Right? Ok I'll shut up.
@pornstorestiffi: Ryan completely killed it in that video. Patrick was tutorializing him a bit, so much of the initial pain wasn't there. By the end is seemed like he genuinely enjoyed the experience, perhaps because he was kicking so much ass.
This game should have been the next ER. Like the others, it's a crazy niche Japanese game with a cult following and most importantly, the experience is just painful enough that it requires endurance to make it through. The whole "will they quit?" factor is what makes an ER different from a Let's Play.
