Been on a media blackout regarding Darksiders 2 since E3 2010. All I've gotten is wiffs of coverage in podcasts and magazines and such. Like getting an eye or earful of Darksiders 2, before I can block it out willingly. I'm getting extremely positive vibes, and am for some reason more excited for Darksiders 2, than I've been for any singleplayer game in years. Guessing it's the mystery that makes it so exciting for me.
You guys excited for Darksiders 2? Just a couple more days...

On a Scale from 1-10, How Excited Are You for Darksiders 2?
11, I'm at the point where I'm trying to decide if living 30 days of dry rice alone is worth the purchase.
I'm really looking forward to it, although I fear they might've gone over the edge, especially with introducing loot. There just seems to be something clashing with the concept of random loot and zelda-style action-adventure to me. Some of the brilliance of those games is that you have to work with what you have, and that getting a new item is iconic and game-changing. Instead of getting "sword+2" you would get "hammer" which had new and unique combat capabilities.
Before the quick look, 5. After the quick look, 8 or 9. The reason for that is mainly loot. I had no idea this game had loot.
I like loot.
I'm excited for it but at the same time I am trying to decide whether to pick it up or not since it comes out the same week as GW2 in Europe.
Ever since E3 i've been around the 8 range, but since they put out that trailer with Death voice over I have been about 10. It's probably just my love for The Crow talking but, man, Michael Wincott's voice is awesome. Also went through the two or so hour video re-cap on Gamespot. I loved that first game a whole bunch. I really, really love the art/ character design in that game.
It has a horsey in it, of course it's a 10.
Still not a fan of Deaths design.
Edit- also, fuck you european release dates!
I'd say an 8. Currently playing through Darksiders again as well, and boy is that game still so damn great! So many little things about it that I still appreciate; like how you can pick up random objects in the world and use as weapons, or how you can instantaneously destroy parking meters just by having War walk through them, and of course how failing a platform jump and falling into some lava only takes off a smidgen of health and doesn't force you to retry and wait through a loading screen.
Though the platforming elements are still really clunky and more of a slight hindrance, I still stand by placing Darksiders so high on my GOTY list for 2010 for just about everything else it does right. Really into the style and the comic-book-esque everything going on. While the gameplay is the top contender for why I'm looking forward to Darksiders II, the story and learning more about the fiction is up there pretty closely, too. I do hope we get to see more of Ulthane, the big, lumbering Scottish giant guy.
I didn't play the first one because something about the art style didn't vibe with me but from what I've seen the second one seems more up my alley. Also I gotta say a big part of my anticipation for the game is due to the fact that I haven't touched my 360 in almost a month. So about 7-8 from me. Darksiders 2 should tide me over until Dishonored and I'm really hoping that game is as awesome as I think it will be.
They have been far too quiet about it. It might as well be sneaking onto the shelves. I predict mediocrity...y'know...like the first game.
Ive been avoiding everything bar the odd spoiler free trailer of this game, super excited to get ahold of it in 2 weeks! I loved the first one and the world the game was set in, cant wait to see how this fits in and how the world changes with the events of the first game having played out.

16th? Steam tells me 20th.
Steam says 20th and my retailers online site says 21st.
I haven't even finished Darksiders yet! I guess a 4. I'm sure the game will be great but I won't play it for a very long while yet.
Well, it's already downloaded on Steam, just waiting for it to unlock. However, I think I'm going to dive into Sleeping Dogs first.
But marginally excited.
@Seppli: Do you know about the story stuff? Seeing you haven't been following coverage of the game you might not. I was a 10 on excitement until i found out some details on the story now i'm about a 7.
I put myself at a 9 because while I loved the first game to bits and am super excited to start the second one, Sleeping Dogs is also coming out the same day on Steam and I don't know what I want to play/buy first. There's something about Sleeping Dogs that just has me chomping at the bit to play it asap.
I never played the first so I'm not too excited, but I heard someone on a podcast I like say good things about it so now I'm mildly interested (3).
Mine gets sent on the 16th, and arrives on the 17th. It was advertised for quite some time to be released on the 16th. Yet another case of 'why the fuck not release the game sooner, when nobody releases anything, rather than bulk it up with a whole bunch of other shit...'.@CaLe said:

It's a Steamworks game though, so it won't unlock until Steam allows it, even if you have the disc. Does Steam say the 16th for you?
It is? Oh well. That's a different story then... *checking Steam*... Yup, my Steam says 17th of August. My retailer is on the up and up on this one.@Seppli said:

9.
I liked the first one, but there were many flaws with it. Its framerate wasn't stable and some gameplay elements were downright useless like your horse, too late, too little, and of course, the gun. This time round, I'm picking it up on PC to avoid framerate issues and get the best image quality humanly possible. As for the gameplay, i'm pretty sure they managed to figure out a way to introduce the horse earlier and make the pistol useful.

Didn't think they would have such a difference within EU. My Steam says 20th :(
I assume you're in the UK? Doesn't the UK only allow games to release on Fridays or something like that? Too often all of Europe gets the shaft because of that circumstance. If only we could always get everything day and date everywhere. One would think in this day and age, that shouldn't be an insurmountable problem. Blizzard does it.@Seppli said:
