Underneath a planet's surface is considered to be underground, especially if it is near the top of the surface. Some of the games have you digging through the dirt.
These games often take place in submerged environments or have underwater swimming levels.
Some games take place in North America, but do not specifically name the city or even country. In most cases, it is assumed that they are talking about the United States.
