Developed by Vigil Games, Darksiders puts players in control of War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, as he attempts to find out who caused a premature Apocalypse while battling both Angels and Demons on a dead Earth.
well first, if you're just asking whether people think it's too derivative of the Legend of Zelda series, that's an awfully volatile way to word your topic.
I have Darksiders coming tomorrow (at least I think it's tomorrow) from GameFly and I've played pretty much every Zelda besides the DS ones, so I'll get back to you on whether or not it actually is too derivative.
Yes, the structure is pretty much derivative of Zelda, but the fighting and platforming elements are more akin to God of War. These obvious influences aren't necessarily a bad thing, though, and it's a really solid experience in the end.
It's the anti-Dante's Inferno, basically. Instead of cloning a game but doing it in a lackluster way that will make you want to rip the testicles off a grown man, it does it in an enjoyable way that makes you want to have passionate love making with a woman.
"3d dot heroes is much more of a shameless zelda ripp off and it gets praised. God I love the internet "
Darksiders got a higher score on GB. Also, apparantly it sold more than Bayonetta. But 3D dot Heroes is less of a rip, more of a total parody. The world used to be 2D damnit! But yeah, i really liked Darksiders, it was really good. "
I meant praised in forums and shit, not reviews (reviews both reviewed quite well)
It is Zelda, and a bunch of other games. Yes, it's wildly derivative. But it's still fantastic, a great example of a game that is greater than the sum of its parts.
