David Braben is a British game developer who is best known for co-writing Elite, a hugely popular space trading computer game.

Braben went on to found Frontier Developments.

Their first project was a sequel to Elite named Frontier: Elite II. Braben is still the chairman and part owner of the company.

Recent Frontier projects have included Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, various Wallace & Gromit games and the fourth Elite game, Elite: Dangerous. Braben has been very vocal on ending pre-owned sales. Braben has suggested adding codes to the games to ensure that the games can not be sold back to retailer. Braben also suggested using these codes for download content, forcing players to enter the code to buy download content. But above all else, Braben has said the best way to fight pre-owned sales is to move to digital distribution.
