Like every one has said, best part of the Dead Island is the beginning. Scenery is nice, there is plenty of loot and lots of people to help by doing OK missions.
Then scenery changes to dirty city streets, sewers and indoor areas. Loot becomes rarer and escort missions become more frequent. At the end they even drop the point of helping out people and forget completely the persons you have helped from the beginning.
There basically was two story hooks in this game: 1) help people, 2) do stuff for Ryder White. Anyone can see the Ryder White -twist coming a mile away, so anything interesting plot-wise remains helping the people. It came as major surprise that towards the end they forget the other survivors completely!
It is really strange that game had such a completely horrible story and characters, when they could have done so much more with little less stuff. Did we really need those dialog bits with heavy cursing? Did the Ryder White plot really add anything interesting into the mix? Was there really need for the Prison level?
Besides everything bad, I really enjoyed the game, mainly for the gameplay. I would like to see sequel where the characters would be written better (or custom characters) and with better plot.
What did you think about Dead Islands plot and character? Did you like other areas then Resort-area?
