Without re-buying a game, I mean (curse you, blog title restrictions).

Don't know what I'm talking about? Well, today Capcom has announced Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. It seems like it's a remix of Dead Rising 2, just with new weapons, new areas, new story stuff, and most importantly....

    YOU PLAY AS FRANK WEST!

And there's really only one word that can describe how I feel about that...

    FAN-TASTIC!

Now, I realize that anyone who bought Dead Rising 2 last year would hesitate to buy this. I know I would, because I've been in that situation before. I bought RE4 on the GameCube, only to see the PS2 and Wii versions get more content. HOWEVER, I did not buy Dead Rising 2. I kinda wanted to, but the lack of Frank West combined with my never having finished the first made me not buy it.

And I'm glad I didn't. Because now I can get Dead Rising 2, but with Frank West. Yay!

So, any other holdouts out there like me, who are now excited for this? Or is everyone just upset about yet another Capcom re-release?

Why would I hesitate to buy this?

I agree. I don't understand the bizarre heroing of Frank West. I honestly don't think Capcom does either. They said when Dead Rising 1 came out that they liked the idea of a much more relatable protagonist... which Frank West isn't really at all anymore.

I actually kind of prefer Chuck and his delicious puns.

I'm not sure how I feel about it.  I didn't pick up Dead Rising 2 (though I really enjoyed Case Zero) but I feel that was more fun because it was a rather short scenario).  Co-op really tempted me, but still I held back.  I may pick this up on a discount, but probably won't pick it up at full price.

@MooseyMcMan: I still plan to buy Dead Rising 2 at the $20 price mark. However, this game announcement is FANTASTIC! I'm so excited, it just sounds like Capcom ran out of game ideas and started taking suggestions from the community.

    AHA! Is this your chance!?

    Why yes, yes it is.

I'll probably not get this, since I can get my zombie-killing urge satisfied with Case Zero when I want to.

Frank West looks like he belongs in fortune city, and at a used car dealership.

I assume you haven't played case west, this is not the Frank West you remember. Fingers crossed for a quality game though!

I wonder how this will affect your quest for Zombrex?

I still need to finish dead Rising 2.

Did they say anything about a PC release? I got it (by it I mean original DR2, of course) for $20 on PC and my friend bought the full game with MS points which for him was $15. We played it and had jolly good fun with fast load times.

I really like how Capcom used GFWL even though it seems people hate it, I don't have the experience to realize why that is, and hey, achievements.

@craigbo180: I've watched the Quick Look for it. He just seems like Frank West, only perhaps more cynical and jaded.

@Marcsman: I don't want to spoil too much, but Frank's probably still going to be searching for Zombrex... (hint hint!)

@Marcsman: Frank gets infected himself at the end of dead rising 1 and it is confirmed in case west that he needs to take zombrex.

Yeah I never got around to getting DR2 either. I loved the first so I'm for sure going to try and get this re-release.

@MrAristocrates: I believe it, I still go back and play the original every once in a while (haven't beaten it). Actually, along with the lack of Frank, the main reason I didn't buy the second one was because I never beat the first. I should get going on that!
