With the number of fake Dead Rising 2 information and "trailers" floating around out there, this latest video filled me with skepticism and hope. Take a look:
There's been no official word out of Capcom on this one, just like there wasn't any real word out of Capcom about everything else that's been rumored about Dead Rising 2 so far, from the other fake trailers to the rumors that it's being developed in North America.
But this latest video definitely looks the realest, with in-game footage that looks like a modern game, fairly slick "viral" production, and details that connect to the events of the first game while building on them in a fairly plausible way--by taking the whole thing to Las Vegas and dropping hints that there's a drug that can stop people from turning into zombies. Also? Dude's in a gigantic hamster ball. Here's to hoping that this game gets willed into existence by the power of the Internet and isn't just some bored film student dicking around.
And let's hope that, if it's really happening, the sequel is a bit more forgiving in spots. I liked that the game's time and saving mechanics created a lot of interesting, difficult situations, but I bet a game that was somewhat friendlier on those aspects would still be fun without making me throw controllers at the tree in my backyard. (True story!)
