Dead Rising 2 is almost as pure as a sequel could get. Very little does it stray from its original's design, both the lauded and hated aspects. For fans of the franchise Dead Rising 2 is a no-brainer purchase and one they'll surely get just as much enjoyment out of as they did from the original, if not more. Zombie killing: the fun side to violence 0
As far as IP's go, there's very few developers that contain the most powerhouses than Capcom (except maybe Nintendo but I mean more 3rd party ones). From Street Fighter, Mega Man, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter, they've certainly got many a franchise with huge appeal and the same goes with sales. It's become beyond cliched at this point, but Dead Rising 2 is in fact more Dead Rising. And that is both a good and a bad thing. Zombie killing is still great fun and is now enhanced with new tools. Dead Rising 2 is a stupid, stupid game. But's it's also a game that lets you kill untold amounts of zombies with a sledgehammer, a chainsaw, or even a lawnmower. The original Dead Rising was a fun novelty act that let you smash zombies with anything you could get your hands on, and Dead Rising 2 ups the ante in all the right ways. Dead Rising 2 is the sequel to the generally well-received Dead Rising, which was generally well-received, but there were some general complaints:- The survivor AI was rather bad, they didnt fend for themselves which made escorting them a hassle.- There were guns in the game, but since you couldnt move while shooting it made the experience end poorly when doing it in crowded areas or bossfights. - Save points were far and between which made dying rather frustrating and if you didnt own an HDTV ...

The Dead Rising games have heart, you gotta give them that. Unfortunately, that's all they have, because the craftsmanship is really not good for today's standards and expectations. Its all very simple, the game is 90% unchanged from the first game and thats not a good thing. When the first game came out, it didn't need to be perfect or even great to be a success as it was 'different' and 'fresh'.
