I decided to pick this up through my Kindle account on the iPad over the weekend since I was stuck sitting at a table in a church for the better part of 8 hours Saturday while my son was at a chess tournament.  I've been pretty drawn into it, it's not groundbreaking or anything, but as someone who played through Dead Space and about half of Dead Space 2 so far, it's got a good amount of story behind the discovery of the Marker and characters involved, and gives you back story on Michael Altman.   They seemed to have picked an author that mostly DOESN'T write books based on video games, and all of this books on Amazon get pretty high marks.
 
If you like to read, and you're interested in some of the events leading up to the video games and movies, you could do a lot worse.
