The New Resident Evil
If you like survival-horror, third-person shooters, or brutally killing undead aliens, this game is for you. Dead Space delivers a horrific experience while at the same time allowing you to play the way you want. There are a multitude of weapons and nearly unlimited ways to upgrade them, so that any player can find their niche. There are many ways to kill a Necromorph, a wise man once said, and Dead Space allows you to do it however you like. The gameplay is entirely solid. The player will find himself opposed to numerous types of enemies and will undoubtedly find that some weapons are more effective than others. It is in situations akin to these that make the player think on his feet. Do you think you can survive without gravity? How about without oxygen? Without either? Be ready for anything, as the developers seem to have a fancy for surrounding you with enemies which seem to appear out of thin air, when you'd least expect it.
The atmosphere in this game is incredible, the foundation of which is this game's excellent visuals. Scenery is colorful, detailed, and interesting. Never have I encountered a graphical glitch, and the screams of your dead crew members sound even better with headphones. The story is just another great thing about this game, but is its weakest leg. Don't expect for your mind to be blown too hard on this one, guys. Not to say that it is a disappointment however, it certainly is not. The story of the game is largely taken in by a series of audio and text logs the user will find throughout the game. This method of storytelling is very reminiscent of Bioshock. Dead Space earns 5 stars in its presentation.
I have nothing bad to say about this game, it is a real thrill from beginning to end for fans of shooters and horror fans alike.
