This game is a short, scary, sweet ride anyone should play!

The events of Dead Space has you in the boots of Isaac Clarke, an engineer sent with a team to investigate  what happened in the USG Ishumura. His main goal throughout the game is to find the whereabouts of his girlfriend. At the same time, he must battle horrific mutated creatures called necromorphs. They're not your average zombie, as a headshot won't keep them down. Dismembering all their limbs? That should do the trick. This new gameplay style is known as strategic dismemberment, an innovative new way of brutally slaughtering monsters. Visually, the game is fantastic. since this review is in 2011, games generally dated back in 2008 would begin to look a bit old, but not this. You could compare it to some more recent games and the graphics on this would win. The sound is brilliant as it is a major factor to the scares in this game. The soundtrack as well, is professionally done.

Stories in horror games are generally cheesy and are usually weak, but the story of Dead Space is one which keeps you focused the whole time. the HUD in the game is also cleverly placed in the game. Your health bar appears on Isaacs back, the rounds in weapons is shown by the side of the gun and inventory and trading is all real time, rendering you vulnerable to necromorphs. There is an upgrading system which improves your weapons and stats. The only real negative in this game is that it is too short for some gamers. My first playthrough clocked in for eight hours. Other than that, it's worth all your money.

Not a revolution, but a perfection in survival horror. 0

Distress call from a mining ship in the deep recesses of space. Everything goes haywire upon arriving. Silent protagonist. The opening moments....With these clichés, Dead Space seems to be on the track of mediocrity and will be summarily forgotten, right? Well, thankfully, no, because Dead Space does enough on its own part for it to be set apart from almost every game of 2008 as one of the best games of the year, horror or not. Playing as Isaac Clarke, a silent engineer, the player will traverse...

You'd definitely hear me scream in space 0

EA has decided to buck the trend this year; a company so used to spewing out sequels is now concentrating on starting new franchises, and EA Redwood Shores latest, Dead Space, has all the ingredients to become another big hit. With an animated comic book and animated movie already released, the markers have been firmly set; now it’s time for the game to deliver. So far, it’s on the right track. So few survival horror games throw you into space to fight aliens, that’s normally action territory; a...
