I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Destructoid grades a game on its potential, and the review kinda seemed to be serious. It's a terrible game, yes. But it's a game that's so terrible it needs to be seen, and is ripe for commentary.

Jim's been talking on Twitter about the game lately. The review isn't sarcastic. He just thinks that the game is utterly hilarious and self-aware. Also, 20 bones.

I'll have to wait to see if this gets repeated a few other places to make sure this isn't just this guy being ironic. It honestly looks pretty funny though.

Typical Destructoid attempt at being ironic and "indie". Of course if the reviewer genuinely believes the game deserves a 10... then I have even less respect for that site. However, it's hilarious that this is going to totally mess up the metacritic average.

Oh and I second (third? fourth? umpteenth?) the notion that this game needs to get the Endurance Run treatment, or at the very least, a 1 hour quick look by Jeff & Ryan.

So Deadly Premonitions gets a perfect score and Heavy Rain gets a 7?

That sounds like the exact review I would write about this game, if I had played this game and it was exactly as everyone I know has told me it is.
 
I don't really read Destructoid so I don't know about this alleged sarcasm but I have often talked about certain movies in almost exactly the same way, so if Deadly Premonition is even half as entertaining as watching Plan 9 from Outer Space, I'd say it's worth twenty bones.
 
I hope the rumored PS3 version of this comes out so I can enjoy this game as much as that reviewer did.

Haha, I almost wanna play this game now. I don't think I've ever played a game "so crappy, it's good" before, but the idea sounds quite entertaining.

"When we judge a game like this, how do we do it? Do we judge simply on gameplay? If so, the repetitive combat and long drives around town may very well mark it as a mediocre title. Do we judge it on story quality? If so, then we have a game that makes no sense and frequently makes light of murder and sexual deviancy. I say a game needs to be judged by how often it made you happy, how much you laughed or became excited, and how long you spend thinking about it after it was finished. If we judge it by those standards, then Deadly Premonition, my friends, is simply stunning. No other game has made me laugh so hard, laugh almost to the point of tears, laugh just by thinking about it.  Deadly Premonition may well be the first game reviewed almost purely for its comedic value, but for a game so funny, it has to be done. 

Deadly Premonition is beautiful. No, not graphically. Graphically it's atrocious. It's a beautiful trainwreck, and it's well aware of the fact. Despite this game being quite like everything ever made, there's nothing quite like the game itself. There is absolutely nothing in this industry that can compare to how weird and wonderful the whole experience is. Judged as a piece of entertainment, as a game that consistently surprises and amazes and leaves jaws hanging, I have no choice but to say that Deadly Premonition goes above and beyond. This game is so bad, it's not just become good. It's pretty close to perfect.

Eh whatever, he justified his reasoning and the review makes total sense, I understand where he is coming from completely. Not like he is saying the game is great, since he obviously says the game is utter crap in every regard, but it made him happy while he played it.

I want to play it if nothing else just to say I did.

I bet that 90% of the people that are trashing him and his review haven't even played the game. 50% of you probably didn't even read the review.

I don't read Destructoid much at all, and so I have no real bearing on what sort of articles the reviewer normally writes, but that was a well-reasoned review.  The game is obviously crap, and he knows that, but there's something about it that he found absurd to an extent that's almost euphoric.
