This is not debatable; if you don't love York and his hilariously endearing awkwardness, I don't want to know you.
Deadly Premonition
Game » consists of 11 releases. Released Feb 23, 2010
An open-world action-adventure game following an eccentric FBI agent as he investigates a series of bizarre murders in the small rural town of Greenvale.
Francis York Morgan is easily the best game character in years
" Let's hype the crapgame some more. "I don't get why people have trouble seeing the appeal. It's not some stupid joke, this is one of the most enjoyable games I've played in years.
" Let's hype the crapgame some more. "you actually play the game it's actually not crap at all
"This is not debatable; if you don't love York and his hilariously endearing awkwardness, I don't want to know you. "What makes him awesome, is because this game is pretty much a B-rated horror and mystery film! It's almost as if the 80s came back in 2010 in videogame form!
" @Daveyo520 said:A legitimately unique personality. I'm tired of dashing handsome heroes with the requisite sarcasm, a la Drake or Prince of Persia. Game characters written to be so overtly likable *always* have the opposite effect on me. York is worth 100 Drakes." I kinda agree. He is really interesting, and the fact that he is completly insane makes it even better! "Yep. He has personality, unlike in most other games that come to mind. "

But it is very generic, Sheppard. One of the costs of multiple branching paths games. Probably only an awesome actor could give rise to multiple different personalities, according to the path chosen." @DavidSnakes said:

" Yeah, York is actually a pretty cool character from what I've seen in the ER vids. Too bad his smiles are so messed up (or perhaps that's part of his appeal). "I think all the weirdness is part of his character and appeal.
The Milkman was a formidable opponent, but alas he was not a protagonist.
York is so crazy that he talks to the player (or does that make him the only sane one in the game).
I agree 100%, you won't get characters like him in big budget games.
Can't remember the last time i've seen such an interesting character in a game.
Indeed. He has been growing on me since watching the ER at the start of the week. I was really impressed with how he figured out how Anna was killed when they were looking at the Autopsy. He's quirky, but he's damn smart at the same time.
Plus, thinking of the idea that Zack is you, the player, makes he conversations with Zack that much more fun. Especially when he starts bringing up pop culture references and discussions of cartoons and movies. I had grin on my face when he was talking about Tom and Jerry in the intro, one of my favorite cartoons.
Yes, York is turning to be an excellent game character, in a very unexpected way.
Im worried that there will be some horrifying reveal about him, other than that he's schizophrenic since its hard to miss that. For instance noone else seems to have noticed or commented on the zombies or the creepy red vines. Either everyone in the town is in on a coverup, or York is seeing things.
I am a very long time persona fan and I hate to say it but there isn't a single character in any persona game that has half the panache of York. The dude is an outright loon, yet also the main character of the story and fairly likable and funny most of the time. If I really had to describe him in one sentence I would say something like "Imagine what the Joker from Batman would be like if became an FBI agent, started dressing normally, and tried to pretend to not be totally insane"
" @rjayb89 said:Get to work on your fan fic already!" The lack of Chie disturbs me. "Chie wants to be a cop. Francis York Morgan is an FBI agent. Just imagine the two of them working together! "
He's incredibly weird, what with his imaginary friend, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
Now, I will agree that he's the best game character... in Deadly Premonition.
"YORK > MARIO"
Not quite But I will say this
York>Agent Mulder
York>Agent Dale Cooper
York>Norman Jayden
Rain Coat Killer> Origami Killer
Read the facts Lol
He gets even more bad ass at the end. When he finally tracks down the killer and confronts them he even makes a speech because the killer is surprised York out did them. "Well you see #@$@#$!#%@#, you are a first degree murderer and a fleeing felon, I am a federal agent, so of course you are going to lose and I will win." The line itself doesn't sound that strange but the way he says it and the expression he uses is hilarious.
