When they are in the cafeteria. The music sounds like Super Mario mixed up a bit. Anyone else notice this?

The first thing I thought when that scene started was, "Why did they get the rights to the Super Mario World song?"  If you don't hear it, you're crazy.

I'm not really hearing the Mario comparison though.

People, listen exclusively to the dude whistling in the theme and then listen to the tempo of the Mario theme starting at 0:06.  You can't possibly say that there's no similarity at all.

I totally hear it, if that isn't me just going crazy THAT is crazy.

it sounds more like a cheerier version of the ghost house music from Super Mario World... skip to 0:27 for best results:

Reminds of the "Ghostbusters" vs. "I Want a New Drug" debate.  I noticed the same thing myself, and maybe it was an unconscious thing on the part of their whistle man.  It does change significantly after the first refrain, but the similarities are pretty pronounced there.

Definitely an homage to Super Mario World. There's a chance that its unintentional though, as in..the musician played Super Mario World and made a very similar tune without even thinking about it. Want to know for sure? Ask the guy who made the song.

Any one else notice that the racing music sounded similar to American idiot? Or am i loosing it?    

I loved that when Vinny was doing the driving minigame in ep. 3 it was such a blatant knockoff of American Idiot. The quality of Toyota Commercial/Pro Wrestling instrumental theme music avoid-licensing-by-changing-one-note in Deadly Premonition is about the only thing in the product anyone on the dev team seems to have spent more than fifteen minutes on.
