That's what I thought at first, but it's being developed by High Moon Studios. They worked on the Transformers games that weren't a movie tie in game.
Well, High Moon Studios seems to have at least 2 seperate teams. Considering they're shipping a game in august it seems strange for them to also reveal a name game before the old one is coming out. Also I watched an interview for the new transformers game and the guy said specifically several times that it was their second transformers game (referrencing war for cyberton several times), completely ignoring the movie tie-in.
Dear old Wade's been my fave super hero character for closing in on two decades.
Please have Nolan North reprise his VO as Pool from Hulk vs, he was perfect. Have him tone down the ADD he had in MvC3 a bit and use this as a template.
And please get a writer who actually gets Deadpool to pen the story. Imagine Christopher Priest, Evan Drokin, Gail Simone or the holy grail of Deadpool writers Joe Kelly penning this?!
High Moon did a great job with War For Cybertron, I enjoyed it and Fall Of Cybertron seems to be upping the game. Hopefully they can keep teh same reverence they've given Transformers to Deadpool.
So what's the deal with Deadpool?
Maybe it's because I'm not in the US, and he's only really big over there?
But I don't think I have ever seen anything related to Deadpool where I live - is Deadpool something worth looking into?

He's a comic book superhero/antihero that knows he's in a comic book. Superhero books sometimes get too serious for their own good, and Deadpool is the exact opposite of that.

So this is going to be a ludicrously violent third-person action game of some sort where all the humor is focused on breaking the fourth wall, right?
I'd hope so. It would at least be more interesting than 80% of the shooters out there today.
Personally, I don't care for Deadpool unless he's being written by very specific writers. Hopefully they are getting one of said writers to be involved with the game, as Deadpool's style of humor is REALLY easy to fuck up.
With that said, High Moon seems like a good choice for this. Darkwatch still remains to be an interesting world and game overall, and while I didn't LOVE War for Cybertron, it was still a good game and the multiplayer was fun as hell.
Best of luck to these guys. I think it's a little odd that Marvel has Activision continually doing their games though. I mean...aren't they part of Disney, who themselves have a games division?

Ah okay, thanks. That doesn't sound bad actually, I might check it out.
As for the game, if it is well executed, I could see that being really entertaining.

@Village_Guy: He's the best comic book "hero". But he's not very famous like Spider-man or Batman.
Yeah, I only personally found out about him through X-Men Legends 2 (which, I think, is Deadpool's first ever appearance outside of a comic), and then moreso in MUA. Though it seemed after that he started croppin' up everywhere.
EDIT: As for who would portray Deadpool, I'd wager Ryan Reynolds has more of a chance. But I think he'd make for a fine Deadpool anywhoo and it'd be neat to finally get a better look at his interpretation before the movie.

Marvel is owned by Disney, but that ownership does not override any licensing deals that may have already been in place prior to Marvel's purchase (thus Sony still able to make Spider-Man movies), and does not prevent them from licensing properties to non-Disney devs since, at the end of the day, Disney would still see money come their way without having to actively spend any money to develop the games themselves.

The best part about Deadpool is that he isn't a hero per say. He's trying to be a hero, but between his darker tendencies due to the amount of shit he's experienced and the fact that he's a bit off his rocker, it's a hard thing to manage.
Unfortunately, Marvel have caught on to how rabid his fanbase is that they have had no qualms about just whoring him out and making way too many comic books with him the last few years. If you can get ahold of Joe Kelly, Christopher Priest or Gail Simone's handling of him, then you're goldent though.
Deadpool is more than just a silly character played for laughs. There are storylines with him that really delve into his delicate psyche and are written beautifully. He can be an extremely well layered character.
Also, how can you not love him Dragon Punching Kitty Pryde just to get a rise out of Wolverine (Waits for the barrage of posts calling me a mysoginist for approving of a woman getting punched.)
Also I would love for Taskmaster to show up. The Taskmaster in the UDON Deadpool was a great character and his costume was bad ass
Is it weird that I want that hit Monkey game a lot more then a Deadpool game?
Man, that origin comic was great.
And then there was this image also about the game that got retweeted
The Amazing Dead Pool!

Yeah, he's perfect for the part - I mean Deadpool pretty is much Nathan Drake minus the whole pretending he's not a mass murderer. :P
And he also played Deadpool in one of the levels in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Great fun him mocking you when you die and trying to psych you out with comments on how your fingers are slipping off your sweaty controller.
He is kinda like Tank Girl if that helps. Lots of winks and nods with ultra-violence.@Village_Guy said:

I really loved what these guys did with Transformers, but I can't say I've got much interest in a Deadpool game.
As long as it has long odes to the beauty of Bea Arthur and porkchops prepared in toasters I'll be hapy.
I don't want a Deadpool game or a Hit-Monkey game, High Moon, no matter how cool they will end up being.
I want Darkwatch 2 damnit
I'll just start out by saying that I love Deadpool. That being said, I loved that trailer. I feel that they captured what I best like about his character and I hope the game is as balls to the wall as it should be.
Here's to hoping.
I was thinking to myself "This will probably be pretty funny at the very least" when the Best. Ride. Ever part came up, but I lost it with that shit in your pants line. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.
Hyped. Really glad they got Nolan North, as I thought he was awesome as Deadpool in Hulk Vs. As long as the game plays well, this should be pretty awesome.
Good to hear Nolan North (the right, nay, the ONLY one for the job worth talking about) voicing Deadpool for the game.
