Overview
Death Crimson OX (with OX pronounced as "ox") is a 3D horror light-gun shooter developed and released by Ecole for arcades (using Dreamcast-based Sega NAOMI hardware) exclusively in Japan on October 30, 2000.
The third and final game in the Death Crimson series, Death Crimson OX uses many elements and assets from its 1999 predecessor for a new alternate story. It is the only game in the series to be released in arcades.
The story takes place in near-future 2010, as a mysterious organization known as SMO use monstrous beings, known as "Subliminers", to oppress the populace of Saronika. With the leader of the resistance (known as Lily) kidnapped, it's up to her daughter Yuri (as well as rogue SMO agent Kou Yanami, who has stolen two ancient superweapon pistols known as "Crimsons") to rescue her, investigate the importance of the Crimson weapon, and put a stop to SMO forces (and its leader Admiral Zaza).
The game was later ported to the Dreamcast, receiving both a Japanese release (by Ecole on May 10, 2001) and a North American release (by Sammy Entertainment on August 5, 2001). It was also ported to the PlayStation 2, receiving both a Japanese release (by Ecole on November 27, 2003 as Death Crimson OX+) and a European release (by Play It on December 10, 2004 as Guncom 2). It is the only game in the series to receive a release outside of Japan.
