    Deathloop

Game » consists of 4 releases. Released Sep 14, 2021

A first person shooter with the goal to exit the loop by killing eight targets.

If you like Deathloop's setting, I'd really suggest you read the comic Casanova.

I love the slightly psychedelic 60's espionage setting of Deathloop; reminds me of old 60's TV programs like The Prisoner and The Avengers. A big thing it reminds me of is the comics series Casanova, written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon. There's 3 books released, Luxuria, Gula and Avarita, with a smaller sequel-esque one Acedia which looks to be the last in the series so far.

It's got plenty of concepts that match the game; at the start of the series, Casanova Quinn is elminating the heads of a vast espionage/terrorist group but then encounters a bit of time travel/alternate universe shenanigans. The there's betrayals, giant robots, life like androids, David Bowie-esque psychedelic weirdness and lots of other stuff. I love it and playing Deathloop has made me bite the bullets and get the hardback copies of the books to read again and enjoy.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'm hooked on Deathloop right now, and I just started re-reading Matt Fraction's Hawkeye run after the trailer for the show was released, so this seems like perfect timing.

I do like comics and I tried Casanova but maybe I'm just getting old but I found it to be very confusing. There are a lot of scenes that just skip from one thing to another and a lot of techno speak thrown around. As a huge William Gibson fan I feel like a hypocrite for saying that they should explain some things a bit more. I also found the minimalistic art to be a detriment - I completely missed the part where the sister is the same person from another dimension because the two characters didn't seem that similar?

I dunno I like the idea but after reading through like 3 "chapters" of this it really wasn't working for me.
