Despair is one of the four horses of the Horseman of the Apocalypse, with his rider being Death. He has a skeletal appearance, a greenish fire emanating from within his body and his eyes are glowing with this green light as well. His skin is mostly torn and somewhat rotted with some of his bones showing. He is the player's mount in Darksiders II, and because Death has not had his powers stripped away the way the first game's protagonist War did, players will supposedly be able to summon Despair from the very beginning of the game, something which is reflected in the much larger, more open areas on display in Darksiders II.
