I have been looking for info regarding differences between versions of Destiny.

Not much to find, or maybe I'm just bad at looking stuff up. (probably the latter). I'm getting the PS3 version at launch. I'm holding off on buying the PS4 'till sometime next year.

Have any of you got any idea about if progress will be saved across the two platforms (PS3 and PS4)? I'm curious about this as they've described it as an MMO-type game and I really don't want to feel "behind", if that makes sense, when I finally get my inevitable PS4 version.

Also if you have any info regarding potentially major differences between the two versions that would be cool too.

Any reply would be appreciated.

From what I gather from other game upgrades (PS3>PS4) your single player game will have to be started over. heres the linky!

What time frame do you think you'll be getting a PS4 during the next year? Because Destiny isn't launching until the middle of 2014 anyway....

I wouldn't buy Destiny on anything but a PS4 or XB1.

You should just get it on PS4. Destiny is likely coming out summer 2014 anyway.

Yea and it's not a launch game. It comes out summer next year so just wait and see.

Well, as of the 8th of February 2013, there are at least 75 million PS3s out there. So there'll probably be some other people playing it on that platform.

I don't know if there are any examples of previous gen versions of next gen games turning out to be anywhere near as worthwhile as the main one. The only example close to that I can think of is Twilight Princess, which was a different situation because the Wii hardware wasn't a big technical upgrade from the Cube. Are there any other instances of that?

Edit: nvm. It's early 2014 for the beta. Didnt realize the game was coming out in Q2. Thought it would be out earlier than that

@tober: the realease date is 9 sep 2014 so by that time ps4 will be in stock and there will be a lot of games for the sistem

Couldn't agree more. Playing this game on any previous gen system is doing yourself a disservice, especially if you're planning on buying a next-gen console sometime in 2014. Better off to just wait if it comes out before you plan on buying the console.

Defiance tried to be a MMO on 360/PS3 and that was totally broken. I wouldn't be surprised if Destiny was the same way.

Every couple of months, when a new multi-platform game comes out, I look up the current-gen version footage and just watch gameplay for a while. Like watching Black Ops II, Ghosts, AC III and now IV. Destiny is gonna be somewhat next on the list for this stuff. And its usually hilarious, and interests the hell out of me. Or like a Wii/U version.

And I tried the Battlefield 4 beta on PS3, so there's that.

Just buy it on PS3, its probably whatever. The Destiny franchise is supposed to last like 10 years anyway, so I'm sure you'll be fine. Like say the 'Comet' expansion pack is supposed to come out in 2015, and so on.

Destiny comes out close to the end of next year. If you're going to buy a PS4 next year anyway, why get the PS3 version?
