It's from PC Gamer, and they liked it....a lot.

First Deus Ex:HR Review
I am not proud to say it but I read the scans of the review and the biggest complaint is the boss fights which don't gel with the rest of the game's style. There is also in game advertising which is something some people will have more issues with than others. However aside from that he calls it as good as the original and better in most areas, the hub areas are great and the stealth is something he describes as being more fun than Splinter Cell Conviction. Everything is pretty much described as great and he calls it one of the best games of the last few years. I dunno what you think of the reviewer or the magazine but its a glowing review.

Eh, i like PC Gamer, don't get me wrong, but they give scores away pretty easy. DA2 got a 94 while Duke Nukem Forever straight up got an 80 which i just can't agree with. Sure we all have our opinions, but an 80 (4 stars) for Duke Nukem?
Wow....so much for their credibility then. :(
Yeah, as much as I hate to say it, I like PC Gamer too, but I can't take their review scores seriously.
Dragon Age 2 gets a 94 while Witcher 2 ends up in the 80's? I was on the fence on Dragon Age 2, and after reading the PCG score, went out and bought the game. Foolish me, but the -text- of the review made it sound great.
Hellgate London. Another game I was on the fence on after playing the beta. Of course, being the beta client, I figured the retail game would be... better. I had fun playing the beta and the PC Gamer review made it sound great. 89%? Hey, that's pretty good. That 89% must have been the number of times I was unable to complete a dungeon because of a random crash, an exit that wasn't even connected to the map, or a bug that made quest items not drop. Again, my buying decision was not based on the score, but the text in the review. They never mentioned the game crippling bugs that plagued the release version.
Fool me once (Hellgate) shame on you. Fool me twice (Dragon Age 2), shame on me. Watching the gameplay videos of Deus Ex HR put me on the fence once more. I'll just ignore the PCG review, especially since its the first one published and possibly an exclusive. If I wanted paid for advertorials, I'd read GI.
Already? Damn the game is like a month out from release.
And yea credibility of PC gamer reviews is somewhat shady. Not that I did not enjoy playing the leaked demo. But I'm glad the game is starting to receive positive coverage at least, hopefully it will be better critically revived then AP.
I like Dragon Age II a lot (I'm actually doing another playthough right now), but even I think a 94 is a bit much. That game does have its share of problems.Eh, i like PC Gamer, don't get me wrong, but they give scores away pretty easy. As for the Duke Nukem score, I don't know who in their right mind would in all seriousness give that game an 80 but I don't want to meet them.
Official Playstation Magazine (UK)'s review is out. They gave it 8/10, praising the world, range of options for upgrades and ways of approaching situations. The reviewer played mainly in a stealthy manner, apparently it works very well. The only problems he seemed to have were the boss fights and loading breaking the mood a bit. His first playthrough was 30 hours and he says there was actually still a lot of stuff to do.
It's looking good then. Mind you I only grazed over the review, so there could be some important stuff that I missed here. I'll have a proper read of it later.
Well, I played the leak review build (Not even going to respond to piracy comments, obviously), but the game is pretty great. I preordered it shortly after playing through the available content.
If you liked the original Deus Ex, this game (At least the 8 hours I played of it) is definitely for you, and is the best thing to happen to a Deus Ex fan since Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines.
The official Xbox magazine game it a perfect score.
Honestly can't say I pay too much attention to reviews, but everything I've seen of this game looks amazing. I wasn't super in love with the original Deus Ex, but the prequel idea here really works for me and the style is really snazzy. If they can offer up a more polished version of Alpha Protocol (which was a stupidly underrated game), I'm definitely excited.
No really fond us PC Gamer US but i do enjoy PC Gamer UK. They had a very interesting podcast when they played the PC preview build, and already there they where hooked on it. But in the end i could not care less what review scores it gets around the web, i will play it regardless.
It's basically Alpha Protocol. It's got some really great stuff and some really fucked up stuff.Even judging by the early leaked build, Deus Ex is far, far more polished than Alpha Protocol.
When will devs learn that boss fights in story heavy games are DUMBYeah, the Metal Gear games would have been way better without boss fights.
I wonder what the agreement was? You get exclusive first access to a review and you give us Editor's Choice...and a score of 94; it's always 94...
It's basically Alpha Protocol. It's got some really great stuff and some really fucked up stuff.Sold.

What I was talking about were the boss fights at the end of Mass effect 2, Bioshock and Arkham Asylum

There are admittedly some issues in the leaked demo imo The long loads (probably fixed), weird proportions on bodies, wooden NPC faces when talking, and somewhat dated gfx (offset by amazing art style) Personally I loved the shit out of the demo and this is probably going to be my top 2011 game, but its not without faults either :P

Yea, ouch.

Illegal leaks and demos are going to have many problems for the most part.... I hope if any that did play the leaks atleast buy the game or rent it out for the fact you stole... I don't want to hear the bs, that it's not stealing...
The demo leak actually generate way more positive response to the game then the trailers ever did. Especially from the original Deus EX community who were mostly negative when the first trailers came out and are now mostly behind the game. Even just reading these boards most of the the people who have played the leaked demo have already pre-ordered the game :)
Renting it out tho will give no money to the publisher/developer so that's not really a good route in my opinion.
is PCGamer.com a website by real pc gamers or are they sellouts?
not familiar with them or their integrity is all
Yep. Because Dragon Age 2 and DNF were both reviewed by the same person, who obviously reviewed Deus Ex: HR. Because there's only one person that works at PC Gamer. So we might as well throw this review out.
@Ahmad_Metallic: I listen to the podcast, most of them seem to genuinely only play PC games and don't play console games alot.Great great.. then i'll take their Deus Ex 3 review seriously :)
not to hijack the thread but, what's their take on Battlefield?
To be honest, most of the stuff developers have shown failed to do the game any justice. Cinematic trailers were great, but everything else was terrible. No wonder people were skeptical about it.@VanTesla said:

@valrog: agreed
@mrfizzy: It's probably not as bad as that most of the time, direct agreements of exclusives for review scores I mean. But are you really going to be overly harsh on a game that is on the front cover of your magazine?
Yep. Because Dragon Age 2 and DNF were both reviewed by the same person, who obviously reviewed Deus Ex: HR. Because there's only one person that works at PC Gamer. So we might as well throw this review out.I really hate that IGN guy. He gave the final episode of Battlestar Gallactica a 9 and only gave Dynasty Warriors a 6.
Anyway, all those games were indeed reviewed by three separate people at PC Gamer.

Oh god, don't even.
