With Square-Enix throwing their lot in with the Deus Ex franchise, we're probably going to see a few new Deus Ex games on next-generation platforms. One of my favorite aspects of these games is the near-future depiction of cities that we already know. Detroit and Shanghai in Human Revolution were an absolute joy to walk around in and explore. New games mean new hub areas and I've got some suggestions and ideas for a few locations that I'd think would work perfectly in the franchise. I'm not including Chicago or New York intentionally, as they were already in previous releases.

1. San Francisco/Oakland: The Bay Area is known for being a mecca of technology-based industry. Silicon Valley gave us the rise of the Internet, Augmentation technology seems to be a logical next step for these two cities. Both are excellent urban environments that haven't been depicted with the kind of exploration-based gameplay in a Deus Ex title.

2. Houston: It's America's 4th largest city where many Fortune 500 companies call home. It's also a major hub for narcotrafficking and all other kinds of vice and sleaze.

3. Washington, DC: If you want political intrigue and conspiracy in your Deus Ex game....go to the source.

4 .Rio: Maybe have a few maps in actual sunlight for a change? With a blue sky?

5. Mumbai: India's financial and cultural hub, but still a fantastic example of massive wealth disparity between rich and poor.

Any other ideas?

Tokyo. I feel like they need a neo-[asian city] for a deus ex game.

Do Neo-Chicago again, this time the entire city will be one big South-Side.

Tokyo, like New York is played out in games. I'd love to see a Neo-Seoul...that could be really cool.

I'd like to see Sydney personally. Australia is in the middle of a civil war during Human Revolution, so that could tie in nicely too.

I'd like to see neo african city, not enough of those around. Neo Johannesberg, Neo Kinshasa or Neo Lagos.

Singapore would be interesting, I think. A financial centre of the world, as well as one of the busiest ports, lends itself well to a lot of interesting plot ideas and interesting areas to explore.

I would like to see all that new particle and water physics shit we're going to get with new consoles used to render port and river cities, that could be pretty.

Also, side note: remember how the hub cities in Invisible War are quite possibly the shittiest hub cities in any video game?

I would like a small village turned into a huge city. Also you would see in an introduction or like small piece information how small the place was,ect.

Vancouver. Think of it. On the pacific coast and Asia has a population crisis in the future. Since Canada is so multicultural many people flock here and bring their crazy Japanese/Chinese/Thai/Korean technologies with them.

I know that Montreal wasn't really depicted in the game but the fact that you went to the Sarif HQ there and got to see such a beautiful cityscape from high above the tower... that was amazing. Montreal looks like it has grown in the future.

On the opposite side, I feel like Berlin would be the worst city to visit in the future because there are like NO tall buildings there. It's like one massive town of medium sized buildings, but the energy of the city would suit the series well.

Neo-Fresno, Neo-Bakersfield,Neo-Stockton

Neo-Houston would be cool if it had neo-codeine

I'd like to go somewhere in South America. Get us out of North America as much as possible. Maybe one of the older districts of a European city, near future architecture against 17th and 18th century stuff would be very cool.

Hm... Chicago is kind of a cool city. And I'm pretty close to there. Neo-Chicago. Also, Neo-My Apartment Building.

Just because you have no faith in those cities doesn't mean that they won't be shining beacons in the future. Deus Ex could show us that future.

I would love to see a neo version of Chicago.

Montreal would be the main city I would love to explore. I love how egotistical the developers are in that game. They are based in Montreal, and they wrote into the fiction that Montreal becomes the global capital in the future.

I would enjoy a future Dublin, Leipzig, Coppenhagen, or Mexico City.

Due to the recent announcement regarding Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, I figured this old topic might be relevant again. If the mods are a tad annoyed that I resurrected on one of my old topics, I apologize in advance. I've got some more ideas for hub cities to keep the discussion going, so please don't ban me.

1. Karachi, Pakistan

A city sadly notorious for political assassination, narcotics trafficking and terrorism. Add human augmentation to the mix in an unstable country with nuclear weapons and the storytelling potential is endless.

2. Lagos, Nigeria

We frankly don't see a lot of African nations represented in the AAA space. Lagos is now one of the biggest and most populated mega-cities in the world and it'd probably be a interesting place to explore.

3. Seoul, South Korea

Seoul is arguably the most hyper-connected city on the planet, making it a fantastic setting for a cyberpunk RPG and the North Korean element might make it even more interesting. I'd like to pose a hypothetical scenario: What if the DPRK got their hands on technology from the remnants of Tai Young Medical to augment their military?

I want them to double down on Montreal because... well... I live there. And it would be cool seeing it depicted in a videogame (the first one didn't do much with it).
