Ok, not really, but this news still fucking sucks. On the latest Listen UP David Ellis basically confirmed that D3 won't be coming till 2011. Not a typo. 2011. 2 years. He said Blizzard told him that SC2 and WoW:C will be next year, and though they didn't say D3 was for 2011, that's the assumption he made, so yeah... that kinda blows. The only alternative would be that it's coming 2009....that or 2012.

Diablo III returns to the world of Sanctuary twenty years after the events of Diablo II with a new generation of heroes that must defeat the demonic threat from Hell.
I Just Cried A Little
Well of course why would they release all their major titles in one year it makes no sense. SC2, WOW:C and Diablo 3 in one year doesn't make that much sense.
Well, it could be 2012, 2013, or 2045 for all we know. They just said NOT 2010, and knowing Blizzard, well.....actually there's nothing to say there, for all we know it could come out 2010 and they could be lying, or it could come out two console generations from now, and still be PC exclusive.
Sorry, I didn't realize it was old news.
And their products aren't always quality... anyone play WoW at launch? Yeah...
Blizzard has so many projects going at once, it would be nice for them to just focus on one thing before even announcing another. I would have rather not even heard about Diablo III at all until late 2010 because at least then the time between the announcement and the release is not so large
The claims that SC2 and The WoW expansion are coming out next year still isn't solid either. I really don't know how it was surprising though, it was confirmed SC2 wasn't coming out this year...so of course there's no way D3 and SC2 would be coming out the same year. Its been pretty clear their most progress atm has been SC2, and they haven't even completely decided the final class they are going to reveal for D3. Its definitely still far off, I would go as far as summer or later of 2011 for D3, and possibly even end year of 2010 for SC2.
yeah this was a given considering they werent gonna show much more until next blizzcon and are focusing on Starcraft and WOW. Well wow is worked on at all times. BUt this is blizzard and other high profile developers except a few. Hate it when a developer cannot meet a deadline. Its like serious? Other entertainment companies are required to do so. This whole, it will be out when its done thing is getting tiresome. Ask, when will it be done then? Because it seems to me like you just are taking your sweet time and no one can see why. Since amazing games have come out that don't have a vague schedule like, Blizzard and id do.
Delays are a good thing, it leads to more polish for a game. I'd rather have a masterpiece of a game that has taken 5 years to make, than a turd of a game that was rushed out because whining fanboys demanded it.
You could have guessed that awhile ago with how they have been announcing classes. My initial reaction is GODFUCKINGDAMNDSKFJAJFIHASD but if that's thats what it'll take for the game to be great, I can wait. I'll prolly end up playin it for another decade again anyway.
" I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out in 2012. "And then the day of it's release, at midnight, the world will end. That would be absolutely perfect.
Seriously, you should be overjoyed when there are people who spend thousands of hours creating a game so you can enjoy epic adventures for a couple of hours.
blizzard reminds me of valve, only they announce their games far too in advance. but i guess it helps the public know what they are working on.
" Its also a business thing people, think. Starcraft 2 : Q2 2010 Warcraft Cataclysm : Q4 2010 ( my guess ) Diablo 3 : Q2 2011 ( my guess ) Its garanteed revenues every 2 quarters. Show that to the investors and they're gonna cum in their pants. Oh yes they will. "Blizzard isn't the kind of company who pushes shit back behind of business reasons actually...they're pretty well set for that kind of stuff. They push their stuff back because they are constantly changing a ton of shit at any given time.
As far as being compared to Valve, I don't think they are any worse with announcing their games. Don't think anyone needs to be reminded of HL2 episode 3 again. Blizzard just chooses to announce their new projects at BlizzCon since it started, its the event made for stuff like that. People by now know that if they announce a game at that you at least have a year or two until its going to be out.
" @Meowayne said:I like pie." That's cool. I don't care about DIII. Or any upcoming Blizzard games for that matter. "Yet again meowayne, your post brought the discussion foward with interesting points..... If you dont care about something, just don't post in it and move on... "
" @demonbear said:Blizzard no, Activision-Blizzard yes." Its also a business thing people, think. Wake up and smell the roses people, the Blizzard we knew morphed into something a bit different. Sure its still warcraft, diablo and starcraft, but they changed. We're not in 1997 anymore.
" @pause422 said:That doesn't even matter. If you've noticed, Activision has no effect whatsoever on what games blizzard put out, nor when they are to put them out. No one needs to 'wake up'. Don't post stuff that you don't understand or that just is based on your opinion as if its true." @demonbear said:Blizzard no, Activision-Blizzard yes. Here's the way I see it:
StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 are being delayed by more than just the development of the games. Battle.net also has to be going in order for those two to be released. Also, Diablo III is not three separate games for them to work different balancing issues out for. It's one base game, then expansions to follow afterwards.
Therefore, StarCraft 2 is viable for next year, so long as Battle.net comes along the way it's supposed to. Hopefully, if that pans out well, we MIGHT get to see some Diablo III gameplay of some form on our computers by the end of next year.
As for WoW: Cataclysm, let's face it: Blizzard isn't going to say a release date until they know the release date for The Old Republic. Once they know that, they'll launch to compete against it. You ARE talking about the #2 publisher in the world going against the #1 publisher in the world at this point.
Well, from what the Bombcast is saying this week, its Diablo doing what Diablo does (and Starcraft II is just a fresh coat of paint on the old game). Let's be completely honest here, Blizzard very rarely reinvents the wheel when it comes to its games. There are minor tweaks and "gee whiz" things (flying mounts in WoW come to mind), but the nuts-and-bolts of their games do not change dramatically from one iteration to the next. Granted, if you liked Diablo II, then here's more of the same- just don't expect it to be world-shattering. With that being said, I still don't know how they can keep polishing a game that they've already made two times before...
