@langdonx: Why would you want to buy it on Steam? It requires a connection to Battle.net anyways and the image is clearly of a digital sale.

@Binarynovasaid:
It's not so much that it's DRM (ok, really it is) but the game is run on the servers. The game simply cannot be played without an internet connection because it's a server-based MMORPG: Minimally Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.
And while I'd rather that wasn't the case it doesn't seem to bother me that Guild Wars 2 is online-only, so I guess I can't complain much. Though in the case of Guild Wars 2, at least it's a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG.
Oh, well there you go. I didn't know that it literally wouldn't run because it's on a server somewhere, I have no issue with that. That's a bit puzzling to me I have to admit, StarCraft isn't like that so what would make Diablo 3 that way? Seems to me that games are being required to run on servers where they didn't use to have to and storage space on home computers has skyrocketed so it's not like they can't fit it onto my machine. I'm completely okay with multiple disk installs, but I can see that they'd want to minimize the size files you have to download though. Still find it dumb it has to run on a server though.

Is this going to be free-to-play? Might as well at this point

Do the servers have to be live to play it at all? Kinda like what happened with Assassins Creed not too long ago? Because if so, I'm out. I refuse to own a game that requires another machine to validate me playing a single player game while I'm playing it.
Thank you. People are against EA and Ubisoft online DRM, but not this. For me, I'm against anything that requires me to have any sort of online DRM in order to play and I pity gamers that are OK with this.
Yes they do have to be live as you have to log into Battle.net to get the game running. I'm sure someone will find a way around that soon enough though if you find that an issue. Otherwise I can't think of a single time Battle.net has been down for longer than a patch and I think there is a way to play single player of this game offline if you have no connection. Not sure about that last part, but I think I remember hearing something like that was good to go (like in SC2).

Simply because Steam has earned my trust in the digital purchase realm. Their servers are fast, their prices are great, their offerings are ample (overlay, friends, groups, screen shots, etc), and they've never blocked me from re-downloading content that I've purchased on any machine I run Steam on.
GFWL games exist on Steam, and I now have a GFWL account because of that. I don't see why Blizzard and EA can't also put their games on Steam. There's something to be said about customer choice.
Anyway, if I do buy the game, it will be a physical copy.
About 2 months ago when people saw the Best Buy sign with the early February date, I pointed out a couple reasons why that wasn't a real release date. Some of my reasons were based on the state of the beta and the state (or rather, our lack of knowledge at the time of the state) of the rune system. But I also pointed out that 1) Blizzard always announces release dates a minimum of 2 months before 2) Blizzard tries to release games during finals for university students because they want to bring down higher education.
As you can see, both of these turned out 100% true.
I wish I could have the chance to work for like a bajillion years on a game, have the reputation of "it's ready when it's ready", then ship it out early without a chunk (small chunk? large chunk?) of the game, just so it can get them MONEYZ (or is it MONIEZ?). This seems ass backwards for Blizzard and everything they stand for, which also forms my opinion of said company. That and they usually, you know, make great games that aren't missing clutch shit when they ship. Maybe I'm still bitter from always on DRM, and real money auction houses, cause importance! Maybe also cause I totally had this game pegged for 2013.
Oh, hey Activision. Sometimes I forget that you're standing over there, just kind of looming at me.
OMG I FOUND A PURPLE FUCK OFF GREATEST GAME EVER 5/5. *Clickclickclickclick
