Dino D-Day is a multiplayer-oriented class-based World War II first-person shooter developed and distributed by 800 North and Digital Ranch for the PC (via Steam) on April 8, 2011.

Originated as a one-map single-player "prototype" game modification for Half-Life 2 (released on November 11, 2009) and powered by Valve's Source Engine, the game introduces an alternate history where Nazi scientists have found a way to breed killer dinosaurs, creating a powerful raptor army serving the Third Reich.

Players are thrown into conflicts (Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Objectives, and Control Points) in North Africa as one of 17 unique playable classes (9 human classes, 7 regular dinosaur classes, and 2 special dinosaur class).

    Factions and Classes

Dino D-Day pits players as one of two factions: the Allies (Hardgrave's Team) and the Axis (Dinosauriergruppe). Each faction has direct access to several playable classes, both human and dinosaur, each with their own unique ablities.

    Allied

    Captain Jack Hardgrave

    No Caption Provided

American paleontologist turned battle-hardened dinosaur hunter, who sometimes needs to feed the urge to punch dinosaurs in the face.

Weapons: M1 Garand (can be swapped for M1 Carbine), Colt .45, MK2 Frag Grenade, Fists

Special Ability (Berserk): After killing three enemies in a single life, the player can make Hardgrave go berserk temporarily by pressing the Special Ability key. While berserk, he is only able to use his fists, but he can absorb a greater amount of damage taken and can deal additional damage.

    Corporal Joe Spencer

    No Caption Provided

American former track star and the Allied forces' agile "scout" class, equipped with powerful sticky grenades and artillery strikes.

Weapons: Thompson SMG (can be swapped for Grease Gun), Colt .45, Sticky Grenades, Fists

Special Ability (Artillery Strike): By holding the Special Ability key, a targeting reticle appears on the position the player is facing at. Pressing the primary attack button then dispatches a powerful artillery strike at that location (after ten seconds). This ability recharges after thirty seconds.

    Captain Nigel Blithe-Crossley

    No Caption Provided

British paleontologist expert, who uses a pump-action shotgun for close-quarters combat and a range of powerful weapons for use against certain dinosaurs (such as the PIAT for a certain armored dinosaur and the Flamethrower for certain smaller dinosaurs).

Weapons: Trench Gun, PIAT (can be swapped for Flamethrower), Smoke Grenade, Fists

    Ilona Vike

    No Caption Provided

Latvian partisan seeking revenge for the dinosaur destruction of her village. A skilled sniper, she also carries a dead jackrabbit to lure in specific breeds of dinosaur as a trap.

Weapons: Mosin-Nagant, Nagant Revolver, Rabbit Trap, Fists

    Camille Brun

    No Caption Provided

French partisan with a deep hatred of Nazis, who was trained as a combat nurse during the French Resistance. She carries five first-aid kits that can be thrown into battle, healing nearby allies for 20 seconds. Alternatively, the health kits can be used directly on an injured ally (by pressing the secondary attack button) at no cost to her supply.

Weapons: Sten Gun, P38, Health Kits, Fists

Special Ability (Emergency Healing): In addition to health kits, Camille can use her emergency healing ability (by pressing the Special Ability key) to heal herself and nearby allies for a short period of time.

    Jakob Frank

    No Caption Provided

German Jew expelled by the Nazi regime and a powerhouse force for the Allies, brandishing a powerful rifle for longer ranges and a self-made Flechette Gun for shorter ranges.

Weapons: BAR, Flechette Gun, MK2 Frag Grenade, Fists

Pressing the primary attack button then dispatches a pterosaur strapped with a 80mm mortar at that location. The reticle can also be locked on to an enemy player, in which the pterosaur will chase the target before exploding.

    HptFw. Wolfgang von Graff

    No Caption Provided

Veterinarian and combat medic, who can heal dinosaurs on the front lines just as well as human soldiers. Special Ability (Pounce): Jumping at an enemy while holding down the secondary attack button causes the player to latch onto the victim for an instant kill.

Special Ability (High Jump): Jumping directly after crouching sends the player soaring high through the air, allowing the player to reach higher places.

    Desmatosuchus

    No Caption Provided

A walking reptilian tank who can shell enemies from afar (using a powerful 20mm gun mounted on its back) while being able to easily absorb bullet barrages. It can also lunge at nearby enemies to keep away close enemies.

Special Ability (Victim Throw): By pressing the secondary attack button at a knocked-down enemy human, the player can pick up the corpse for an instant kill. The player can also (within five seconds) throw the corpse at other enemies to also kill them. The player can also pick up goats scattered throughout the map and throw them at enemies to kill them.

    Stygimoloch

    Microraptor

    No Caption Provided

Added in the October 28, 2011 update.

Small, four-winged dromaeosaurid dinosaur also used for ambushing enemies (as long as there are no delicious dead jackrabbits lying around). While it cannot fly, it can flap its wings to reach higher surfaces and cling onto walls to hide from enemies. Along with its claws, it also uses its poison glands to spit venom onto enemies (damaging them and, if hit on the face, disorienting them).

    Weapons: Claws, Venom Spit

    Tyrannosaurus Rex

Added in the July 28, 2011 update.

On certain Deathmatch maps, a random Axis player can spawn as the deadly Tyrannosaurus Rex. A large, carnivorous dinosaur (which is impervious to bullet fire), it has MG42s bolted on both sides of its skull. It can also roar at enemies (using the Special Ability button) to knock them down and eat them quickly (using the secondary attack button), or pick up a 500 lb. bomb (using the secondary attack button) and throw it at enemies (using the primary attack button).

    Styracosaur

On a certain Objective map, a random Axis player can spawn as the Styracosaur, which must be escorted to a particular point without dying. A large, herbivorous dinosaur, the Styracosaur is outfitted with a large tank gun (which must be aimed separately using the Special Ability key) and can completely withstand bullet fire. It can also head-butt enemies in front of it for an instant kill.
