Decapitation is the removal of the head of a person or animal.
Some games feature a system where a character near death can be dazed into a 'down but not out' state; while their allies can often revive them if they reach the downed character quickly enough, their enemies can perform special, frequently gruesome, execution attacks against such characters.
Gibs (giblets) are, basically, what's left of someone after they make contact with an explosive object or powerful weapon. They can be seen in games such as Doom, Quake, Team Fortress 2 and many, many more.
A system that gives a game the technical capability to implement the effects of gore which include but are not limited to, dismemberment, charring, beheading and gibbing. Gore systems have progressed significantly over the years from enemies scattering into pixels to highly detailed body tearing.
A term that can be used to refer to RPGs that focus more on the action, or brawler action games which focus on hack & slash gameplay.
A terrorist organization made up of bizarre, humanoid beings who primarily use self-destruction as a weapon. The main enemy in "Killer7."
This concept applies to any game protagonist who through the course of the game's story becomes physically and permanently maimed in some way (by losing an eye, an hand or other body part). They may receive an artificial replacement but the character remains physically changed through the course of the game.
Make sure you respect nature, or else! Note: This only concerns *protagonists*.
Optional Censorship gives one the ability to remove or obscure content that is possibly offensive or objectionable.
Regeneradores were experimental bioweapons created by Los Iluminados, a Spanish militant organisation. Regeneradores were known for their enhanced regenerative abilities, allowing them to regrow large portions of their body if destroyed.
Often found in either very violent games, or games taking place in or around water, Screen Splatter is a visual representation of blood, water, strawberry jam, or other liquids temporarily obscuring the player's field of vision.
Strategic dismemberment allows players to separate an enemy's limbs from its body without killing it, disabling limb-specific functions.
Popularized by franchises such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, these games typically involve a strong implication of danger, vulnerable protagonists, and disturbing monsters.
Incredibly grotesque, but incredibly useful.
