    At the end of DMC2 Dante is trapped in hell right? 
    And then in the epilogue it's hinted at that he escaped... 
    So my question is, Why haven't we found out how he escaped or what happened after that point?

    Simple.  The game was so bad that Capcom is ignoring its existence in favor of other stories about Dante.

    Wait, Back up  a second. DMC2 was a bad game?  I really enjoyed it. 
     
    (I discovered the internet late, Don't know what the general opinion about DMC2 was)

    Yeah, they basically are ignoring the game. Every other game that comes after DMC1 comes before DMC2 chronologically, that's how they explain it anyway. Too bad, I would not mind seeing the shit Dante does in Hell itself, all the other times we've just been in portals to hell or small parts of it.
