The whole point of porting it is that you're playing an old game. It's not playing an old game and thinking "is this as good as today's games?" because of course the answer is no. Doom 2 on XBLA is not supposed to be Doom 2 rebooted.

I don't see a problem. This isn't a review of Doom 2's original release. It's a review of Doom 2's XBLA release in 2010. Very different things. Reviews are supposed to tell people if a game is worth playing, and in 2010, a 6 sounds about right.

Why would it be wrong to compare a game like Quake to modern FPS games to see how it holds up with todays standards? And if you're basically saying the game is shit compared to todays standard, then why release it? If it's for pure nostalgia, then you're going to play it anyway. Exactly. They're not putting it out there to say it's the pinnacle of current gaming, and I think it's a little unfair to compare it to modern titles we'd consider to be such.
