    Doom

Game » consists of 12 releases. Released May 13, 2016

In a world with health regeneration and cover-based systems, one of the longest-running first-person shooter series returns to its brutal, fast-paced roots.

I find it weird that I suck at modern FPS(Halo, COD, Destiny) But I am good at Doom 2016

I don't believe that you completely suck on those games, since they all too different. I think you are just average.

If you really want to see a god awful gameplay then you should see me play Counter Strike. In this game i am almost always at the bottom of the list.

Doom doesn't play remotely like those games (maybe there's a bit of Halo in it actually). In Doom you stay on the move, dodge and take smaller hits that you'll regenerate. In CoD or similar games, you need to hide to avoid tracking/hitscan weapons that kill you very quickly.

Basically, you are probably pretty good at aiming and shooting, but might not be patient enough to use corners, walls and ambushing to your advantage as much.

You mean multiplayer? I was actually pretty good at halo and halo 2 multiplayer for whatever reason, not so much destiny and COD or battlefield. I wasn't bad in the beta of COD last year though maybe because it was more like Titanfall. I feel i seem pretty good at Dooms single player but i haven't touched the mulitplayer since i have it on pc and use a gamepad.

Abuse auto aim in modern shooters = profit. Assuming Doom plays like good "recent" shooters (Bulletstorm, Painkiller) then just being good at moving a mouse really quickly with precision aim is your best bet.

@tobbrobb: This sums up my playstyle very well. Whenever I play modern FPS games, the left-trigger-right-trigger type, I always find myself getting killed because I tend to uncrouch and try to line up a shot while I reload, or I want to run across the area to a better position without clearing my path first. Doom is basically built around the idea of not stopping for nothin' and I was able to sink into a very comfortable playstyle almost immediately.

Are you talking about the multiplayer? Every time I've played Doom's multiplayer, most of the other people playing it have sucked. Not all of them, but more so than most other multiplayer shooters.

@the_nubster: Yeah I'm a pretty aggressive/impatient player too. You just want to keep going and set up the next kill constantly. I ended up being pretty decent at more patient games like CS, but in the long run had less fun with them.

@justin258: Because they don't go for armor pickups and such and rather sit in their corner with the Vortex Rifle which gives your position from a mile away. I guess having 150-200% effective life and powerups is 'cheating'.

I die a lot in modern shooters because I'm too impatient most of the time. These games want you to hide and reload, get your life regenerated and then pop back out, but it's a bit against my instinct when playing a FPS. Doom brings back the Quake and Doom player in me again; sprint to that powerup and blast away until death or glory! It's so damn refreshing in this day and age..

It makes perfect sense, considering that what helps you to survive in DOOM is the exact opposite of what you're supposed to do in the games you listed. Take Halo for example, you need to take cover, be patient and play smart in order to survive against your enemies, especially when you move up the difficulty ladder. In fact a lot of the levels are designed around that idea, sure you get swarmed sometimes and you have to wing it by running around, but more often than not, running into a fight guns blazing will lead to your death. In DOOM, you're supposed be on the move at all times, you can't take cover because the your enemies will literally come knocking at your door step and they will ravage you. The A.I marks your location, and next thing you know there's a red giant demon trying to jump-squash you. It'll sometimes look like the levels will accommodate the fact that you want to take cover, but don't fall for it, most of the areas are built likes tunnels in order to invoke movement. The compact box-like rooms serve only one purpose, to give you the tenth of a second to catch your breath, run through and pick up ammo, and chose your next destination before a horde of monsters decide to block every exit. In order to be good at DOOM you should be able to think fast and aim well, that is the core concept the game seems to be built upon.
