    Overview

Double Clutch is a top-down racing game that was released exclusively for the European Sega Mega Drive. The goal of the game is to complete a series of races in any of the top three positions. The prize money, plus any bonus money found during the race, can be put towards upgrades for the player's vehicle, giving them a competitive advantage for subsequent races. The game can be played in either single- or two-player mode.

The game was co-developed by Japanese studio ASCII Entertainment Software and Danish studio BGS Development. For both developers this was their first Mega Drive release. The two later teamed up again for AWS Pro Moves Soccer.

    Gameplay

Picking one of four drivers, each with different strengths and weaknesses, the player sets off to finish first on not one, not two, but three different tracks. Each race consists of three laps against 6 AI drivers (or an additional second player). After finishing, the prize money can be spend on upgrading the car.

The three tracks are being driven multiple times in different weather conditions: dry, rain and snow. A damage meter shows the state the car is in and drops when running into other drivers or when crashing off course.

    Playable drivers

    • Todd Wheeler "Power is all you need."
    • Lance Quick "Clutch the early lead!"
    • Pam Wilder "Can't win if you crash."
    • Joe Thunder "Don't spin your wheels."
