Overview
Double Dare is a 1990 NES game based on the Nickelodeon game show of the same name, normally played by two teams of two children. The game was exclusive to the North American region.
The goal of Double Dare is to answer trivia questions for cash prizes: if Team A doesn't know the answer, they can "dare" Team B to answer it, however this means Team B will earn twice the amount if they get it right. Team B can also "double dare" Team A to answer it for four times the original amount, or else face a physical challenge. If Team A dares or double-dares Team B and Team B gets it wrong, or if Team B fails the physical challenge, Team A wins the money on offer.
At the start of the show and after the half-time, the two teams are required to play a "toss-up" mini-game that determines who will be the first to answer questions. The winner of the toss-up will also receive a cash prize. Double Dare's mini-games often require a timing component in which the player has to hit a "speed" and "angle" counter at the right points to accomplish the objective.
