So if you have missed it, Double Fine just announced Costume Quest 2. The video I saw had me wondering, has Double Fine mastered announcements for there games? Between that kickstarter video for Massive Chalice and this one, I think they really have this down.

E3 reveals can be exciting, but the pageantry that Tim and the group have put in to these just seam to ooze passion and real enjoyment.

It's hard for me to get excited. Costume Quest felt more like a My First JRPG than anything else and became dull very quickly. Unless the sequel is more substantial, I don't see it being any more appealing.

They are certainly the masters of announcing a sequel that i wished for but never thought would happen.

let's hope the game lives up to the trailer :P

I'm still not too excited though. Guess I'll wait and see.

    • Sexy Pong
    • Napkin Tycoon
    • Beard Sim
    • Half Life 3

Some of those games would be good ideas.

I am definitely going to wait for Costume Quest 2. The first one was pretty simple, but it had a lot of the Double Fine charm...

@hailinel: Well yeah you are right in that regard ... this has to be more substancial than the last release , I hope it is or at least levels are bigger , I dunno if I would wnat the bettle system change , sometimes simple works best.

While it was very simple, I REALLY enjoyed Costume Quest so I am pretty pumped for a sequel. I still play the game every Halloween, and the DLC every Christmas.

@ilikepopcans: I'm saying that I don't think it's a good game. Once the novelty of the premise wore off, I had zero urge to play it. It's far too shallow.

    uh Joakim Mogren anyone?

    edit: nvm, that was better.

    Excellent video.

It's almost as if a bunch of nice, funny people with personalities work at Double Fine.

@hailinel: Sure I guess that is a valid stance. If you don't enjoy the non gameplay stuff enough then people should not play that game. But Costume Quest also does something no "JRPG" like game has ever done before, and most other games have not either so I can take the weak gameplay.

    @hailinel:

Extreme charm that oozes out of all the pours in the little game's body. Making a Halloween game that genuinely reminds you of the joy of being a kid on Halloween. A game that brings you extreme joy from watching the kids in power themselves to save Halloween.

The game has a lot of charm and a specific great atmosphere.

@ilikepopcans: Nostalgic charm, holidays or no, is not something unique to Costume Quest.

@hailinel: That is the one thing that you call bullshit on? Sure, there are more games with nostalgic charm then I originally applied in my first few statements. Still does not take it away and I still think it is rather rare in games.

@ilikepopcans: You specifically called it out as something no JRPG-like game has done before, which is a statement I find highly inaccurate, at best.
