Double Jumping in Real Life

Crazy? Yes. Possible? Probably Not.  But how awesome would it be if you could double jump in real life?!

It would be radical. Wouldn't be much practical use for it though

I can. Just tap the spacebar at the pinnacle of your jump.
It's a common misconception that you can't because there's no easy mode in real life, and the timing needs to be so exact, which is really hard to achieve from a first person perspective.

If you could pull it off, you'd be a shoe-in for gold medal at the Olympics in the high jump.

You can also bunny-hop. If you repeatedly jump whenever you go anywhere your acrobatics skill increases.

It's not so much impossible in real-life, as unnecessary - if the ability was granted through the use of jet-packs or whatever, then it would never be described as a double jump anyway.

I used to think it was possible when I was really young to jump off of some object while in freefall. Like, "Oh, if a plane is crashing, I'll just grab a chair and jump out, and just before hitting the ground, I'll jump up off the chair, and land unharmed."

The really rad thing is going back to Gamespot and talking to the people who still think it's possible.

Why would jumping and then flying up using a jetpack be a double jump?

I don't see any logic in that.

Also, if you hang off a ledge and do a pull up, or do a hang-drop to another ledge, your grip gets better.

I find the best way to increase acrobatics skills is to jump off cliffs fairly often, easy way to become a circus person in nooo time.

I guess you could make some shoes that fire a pole downwards mid jump, effectivley making you jump again when they hit the floor.

Learning to time the double jump would be hard too, too early and it does relatively nothing, too late and it doesn't help much.

Scientists could totally make this happen by putting magnets in our shoes and counteracting gravity. Trust me, I went to science camp once.
