All over the place. We have learned from Dragon Age II that confining the player to a single place doesn't work. I want to visit all of those countries. Also let's go back to Fereldin.

Even if that were true, it still means a lack of variety.  Especially since I find Kirkwall to be pretty ugly.

As for the question of location, I don't even know where this game takes place.  I guess Orlais would be pretty interesting.  Then again, I don't think the visuals of Dragon Age games can do that justice.  At least not the way Leliana described it.

I didn't say that. I'm just saying if lowtown hightown, darktown, the gallows, and the docks weren't in kirkwall you'd have no problem. If they were called kirkwall smirkwall jerkwall nerkwall, and perkwall you'd be like "Wow the towns in this game are so much bigger/better than DA:O"
Realistically there was only one town in DA:O and that was Denerum. Yes Redclif and Lothering were other towns, but did you ever go back to them after their quests? Lothering you could not go back to even if you wanted too. The same environment thing in DA2 does suck, but your "IT ONLY HAS ONE TOWN GAHHH!!" thing is really stupid.

Not true. They all looked the same since they are part of the same town. There is no sense of progression in the game, I feel like I'm going shopping for quests in one town instead of going off on adventures. DAO is an uglier game at this point but at least you had that sense of progression and enjoying the new environments.

Again my original point implicitly expressed in my original post stands, and that is that this game clearly suffers from an extremely limited development cycle, especially for an RPG, and not just on the environment side. There are tons of other glaring hints (character skinning/rigging problems throughout cinematics and gameplay, floating weapons, invisible arms since the difference of size between blood dragon gauntlets and other armor sets was not taken into consideration, again like I mentioned, harshly recycled quest environments that I can count on one hand)  that this game was rushed out like diarrhea.

But I don't want to derail this thread further.

Someone mentioned Orlais. I'd like to play a Dragon Age in that setting, or maybe experiment with new fiction-adapted cultures (far away feudal japan inspired lands, I don't know whatever, tired of demons and Desire tit-demons).

@kingzetta: They are like the Moors who came and took over parts of Europe. They want to spreed the Qun which has 3 pillars just like Islam. The Chantry (The Catholic  Church) has also had an "Exalted March" aka crusade against them. Just because they come from an Island does not make them Japan.

Well I didn't mean everyone that comes from an island is Japanese, but that does make sense them being Muslim.

The Tevinter Imperium would be cool. They've been trumped up as the most crazy power mad people in DA, I'd love to get involved it what certainly would be some insane political power struggles.

In a world with more than one city, more than 5 identical map layouts for every dungeon, in a world where communication is more clear, in a world with a wide enough variety of bestiary that I have to change up my tactics regularly. Having multiple towns increases the scope of the story, regardless of how zetta wants to rationalize it. I heard about several cities nearby and never got to see them. That kind of scale makes sense for something like the Witcher, because there's no expectation of a large story. Even though the Witcher probably had about 4 towns and the largest single city for any WRPG, it still felt to scale with the story, which was small. DAO was a large story, though, so the expectation existed. DAO set a bunch of expectations DA2 failed to meat, that doesn't mean people are too stupid to accept change. It means the people who made DA2 didn't understand why it sold well. Better than Mass Effect.

Do we seriously need to go through this "RAH RAH DA2 SUCKS RAH" argument in every thread? If you people hate DA2 so much then why the fuck are you even on these forums? Do you think Bioware reads this shit? Do you think you're going to suddenly convince the rest of us that we were wrong all along and actually this game is garbage? FUCK.

Back on topic, I think Tevinter Imperium would probably be the coolest since it sounds like the starkest contrast from what we've done so far. I'd love it if I could bring my mage Gray Warden from the first game back and fucking rule the place. Honestly I don't think a globe trotting game would work unless you wanted each continent to be represented by one small city and 3-4 dungeons.

They remind me more of the Turks, especially since the (current) Tevinter Imperium seems to be based on The Byzantine Empire.

I think an idea for Dragon Age 3 would to continue the 'three acts' thing of Dragon Age 2, but to make it so your player character travels to a different nation with every time skip.  You'd start off in Fereldan, scion of the dog lords... middle act you go to Orlais, the head of the Chantry and the most powerful nation in Thedas... final act is your character being caught in the latest Exalted March against Tevinter, and you have the ability to turn the tide for either faction.

From the maps I've seen I have to say that Orlais looks like it could be an amazing setting but the accents have to be handled well, I actually got bummed out when I saw that DA2 was in the Free Marches

Antiva could be cool aswell, especially after the things Zevran was saying

" Do we seriously need to go through this "RAH RAH DA2 SUCKS RAH" argument in every thread? "
    Dude, I agree  "
Its pretty self absorbed to think people's problems with the game have anything to do with converting others. In talking about the setting for the next game, yes, the issue of this game having a single town instead of several is an issue for some people. Can you live with that without raging? Can you reinforce that skin of yours?

people don't like Dragon Age 2? Wha?

-shrug- I'm loving it. I wouldn't be adverse to a new setting, or going back to Ferelden. That said, I think Kirkwall is done as a setting.

I can't believe people like this "game" or rather "dialogue-tree."  There are a lot of competing flash games based around the same concept and even more perverse...
