In my opinion it most certainly is. I own pretty much all the DB games from last gen and this gen and this is by far my favourite. The fighting was solid, you had a sense of power, and the graphics were great. What about you guys?

I am not into Dragon Ball Z but I remember playing one of the game and I loved it. It was either  Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 or   Dragon ball Z Budokai 3...fuck, maybe it was an earlier one? All I remember is that it was on PS2 and was a Dragon Ball Z game and I loved it. >__>

I would have remembered, but as I said, not all that into Dragon Ball Z.

Yeah. Those were some J-ass RPGs. Sure, the combat may not have been as fun, but they were RPGs. You could fly around and beat up air pirates, and loot stuff.

I think it was too although I really like the Tenkaichi games.  I really like Raging Blast.

I'm not sure you'll get much love on GB in this thread though.

Legacy of Goku 1 is not a good game.  The only good part was at the end with Freeza. The sequels were huge improvements.

Also, Budokai 3 is better than all of them. True story.

I prefer the Budokai Tenkaichi 2 game. A combat system well adapted to the anime, and the freedom to strategize.

2D fighting games are nice, in a tried and true formula, but I prefer games that take the next step and devise a game that lives to the strengths of the material it is based on.  Having the most powerful characters in manga stuck in a 2D plane it is not how I would envision it.

@Landon: The only one I actually didn't play was Legacy of Goku I.  I loved 2 and Buu's Fury, though.

I'm not too fond of the fighting games mainly because of the balance, of which there is a lack of.  I also prefer the Tenkaichi fighting mechanic to the Budokai series but even though they made an effort with the later Tenkaichi game to make all characters balanced for online play, it's still not enough.  A lot of them play too similarly to each other, as well.

I also loved Dragon Ball: Advance Adventure.  That was fun.

Legacy of Goku II > Budokai 3 > Tenkaichi 1  .....aaaaand then the rest of it was pretty much crap. Budokai 1 and 2 were good at the time and Buu's Fury was alright.

I really fucking dug the Tenkaichi games, even though they were almost entirely panned, critically. Conversely, I never really got into the Budokai stuff, but those got all the best reviews.
