Dragon Story - probably my favorite iOS game

Choosing my favorite iOS game was indeed a tough choice, but Dragon Story wins, and here's why:

In my opinion it's one of the best (how do I even call it?) builder and breeding games out there. There are a lot of this type of apps, you'd be surprised. I'm talking hundreds. You know, the kinda style where you build habitats (usually on floating islands), gather food, get to breed new creatures to create better ones that produce more resources and so on.

    Isn't he cute?

Dragon Story shines in comparison to all the other titles, because it's been released a long time ago, relatively, and has been constantly improved by the developers. Every now and then there are new additions and updates, such as new dragons, season-themed stuff etc. There are a lot of neat details that can really surprise and downright amaze you. The game is also... cute. Maybe I am not the ideal target demographic but damn... just take a look at that picture!

Well, the basics of the game are simple - you are given an island and your goal is to breed and take care of dragons of various elements. The whole breeding system is complex, but not complicated. The idea is that certain combinations of elements have a chance to result in a new dragon type. Then that type mixed with another will give you a new dragon, and so on. You should aim for the highest, rarest dragons, as I feel this is the ultimate goal.

If you haven't seen the game yet, the graphics are very well done. Same goes for the interface, it's intuitive and easy to navigate. The only complain I'd have is how easy it is to lose gold - no confirmation whatsoever when you tap a dragon. Gold is the premium currency, by the way. Actually, I haven't had the chance to play Dragon Story for a while now, so hopefully it was changed.

The timers may be frustrating, but look on the bright side - you won't have to waste time on this game, but you will still be able to enjoy it. Hopping in once or twice per day is enough. Remember Dragon Story is the kind of game for patient people.

When it comes to gifts, you can only send 3 per day to your neighbors, unlike in other games. Gifts are a rather important part of gameplay, so use them wisely! Because of the 3 limit, do not just tick off everyone and send the gifts. If you do it this way, Stormie and two real people will get them. Which is a waste. You should either send them to people who already gifted you, or cycle through your neighbors.

To gather resources quickly, you can use the premium currency (gold). Gold can be bought with the in app purchases, sometimes it can also be earned so you should look for such opportunities! It's also possible to modify the amount you have - simply use a cheat. Some even work for adding gold so in the end, you may not need to pay at all. Try using this one:

Dragon Story has goals that you can pursue (like a lot of other games), but be realistic about what you can achieve with the time and money you put in.

Also, remember to check your news feed regularly! Some people who visit you won't post on your wall, but you can see that in the feed. I'm pretty sure some of those are "testing" the new neighbor - you! - to see whether you are active and watchful or not.
