So I'm thinking I'll pick this up for my Vita, but I don't really want to shell out an extra $50 for the PS3 version. Can anyone who has played it chime in on its value as a single player experience? I'm planning to play the archer.

Yes, I picked it up this morning (on vita) and I'm having fun, the art is gorgeous and the combat is fun :)

You'll get plenty of A.I. companions so you won't feel lonely. They seem perfectly adept, and at the very least they take heat off of you, which is great for my Wizard.

So far it seems perfectly fine solo and if you run into any problems, you can just grab an AI partner. I'd recommend it.

I sank 17 hours into a solo Elf run with no AI companions, the last boss sure put up a fight but everything was manageable. She's really fun to play as and arrow shortage only becomes a problem on the harder difficulty levels.

I can't speak for the PS3 version yet but the Vita slowdowns get pretty ridiculous even when soloing the "NG+" content.

For some reason whenever I go solo into a dungeon it automatically spawns companions from my stock. So... It's definitely worth it for the single player.

EDIT: Archer is pretty dope, use lots of juggles and arrows my man.

@earlessshrimp: You have to disable the vacant slots in the tavern if you want to go solo, I think it nets you a small exp or score bonus.

Yea they did the smart thing of giving you AI allies to fill out your team so it really does work solo.

No question. I have zero friends playing the PS3 version and I'm still loving it.

There is only ONE major complaint I have about the game. At a certain point the normal Gate you use to access the map screen basically goes haywire and it will send you to a random stage instead. If you want to go to a specific one you have to use the Stables. That's fine, except it costs money. It's not a lot, but just the idea that I have to pay to go to a specific stage is pretty fucking stupid. Of course I'm already having arguments with people elsewhere that defend it, with poor reasoning.

Other then that, having pumped like 10 hours in a day it's pretty damn great.

@ervonymous: oooooh so that's why they randomly auto-fill, thanks!
