Framerate

The IGN reviews says the PS3 version runs better. When I played both versions of the demo the PS3 version ran horribly. I know its early but has anyone played both versions? If not has anyone tried both demos and noticed the same thing?

People who have it already have said that the framerate is fine on the PS3, only dipping momentarily as the game autosaves. That might have been patched out already though.

I haven't read anything about the 360 version though.

The demo is the same stuff they've shown since last year so it's basically WAY behind the retail code (almost a year old at this point). Do not assume the demo represents the final version of the game.

PS3: Frame rate is generally about 24-30 fps, drops aren't that common, no screen tearing at all

360: Frame rate is consistantly 30fps, there is a TOOOOOOOOON of screen tearing.

Depending on which drives you nuts more, choose your poison. I'm going with the 360 version, the super shit frame rate in skyrim was the absolutely pits.

I also experienced worse framerate on the PS3 demo... it might be ok for retail though. Though IGN brings up that the Xbox version has issues and i haven't heard this from any other review of the xbox 360 version.. so wondering if they had a bad xbox or something.

I think the question of whether or not the game was installed comes into question, since a lot of reviews I'm reading seem to have more note on technical issues when it is not installed.

You take a gamble and order at the capcom store. You either get the game a week early for 2 weeks late. After how they botched the Marvel vs Capcom 3 release, I'm never ordering from them ever again.

I guess I'll check out both versions if I can rent them from somewhere.

I would prefer to play this on PC with 60+ FPS, I really wish they wouldn't ignore PC.

They are basically equal now. I know different dudes who have different versions and they both say all the draw backs of that systems demo version is basically gone and both versions run pretty stable around 30 almost all the time. The problem is all reviews are based on a review build of the game that is not as up to date as the actual retail release.

Thanks for all the help guys. Think I'm gonna go with the xbox version. IGN is the only website to mention framerate problems and no one else has. So figure since I like the xbox controller better I will go with that one.

I think that I can handle a little screen tearing. If the problem is serious, I guess I'll get a refund and buy a the PS3 version.

I generally always buy 360 when I have a choice so I probably will for this, unless 360 actually is as bad as IGN says it is.

Its not. Ive had a few battles. No issues. Only time It went funny is when I got kicked from 360 network wile entering the rift.

Played through an hour of the final game on the PS3. No screen tearing that I've noticed.

The largest battle I've gone through so far involved one ogre, four goblins, four NPC soliders plus my own full party and even then I didn't notice any framerate issues or screen tearing.

Anybody get their hands on the 360 version yet, install it and verify this massive screen tearing problem? I would hope if it is so bad that it would be patched eventually.

There is no massive screen tearIng. No frame rate problems. IGN needs to state they had an earlier build of the game for their review.

Yup, its fairly noticeable on screen. Mostly depending on where it happens, but when it does you notice that.

Screen tearing is hard to record, and some people don't seem to be able to notice it at all. My brother denies its very existence.

Anyway, screen tearing is when the frame rate goes higher than the refresh rate. The display tries to show two frames at once because it hasn't fully refreshed yet, so there's a "tear" where the screens are slightly different. If you've never noticed it before, don't try and you'll be a happy camper. Once you do, it's a pain in the ass.

Here's a simulated picture. Of screen tearing, not ass pains.

The retail game is clearly superior graphically with better shading, smoother edges, and less tear though there is still some. Yes I am talking about the 360 version. Almost all of the graphics complaints you see in the reviews were fixed or minimized to the point of triviolity in the retail release. The camera is still a real bicth though.

Don't believe us? Watch the GB quick look. They are using the 360 version.

Here is a non simulated picture of screen tear since the above link doesn't seem to work. Yes it is actually something I captured in Dogma itself on 360. As a heads up it lasts 1 whole frame of a 30 fps image. Meaning this tear lasted .033 seconds. You can see the full clip in a video I put on youtube if you want to see it for "real". The funny thing is I forget to set the fps in the encoded video to match the fps of the game so it actually had more tearing in the edited video than was in the original.
