It surprises me nearly every year with Xbox Summer of Arcade that my favorite games this generation and even Game of The Year came from a small $15 package made by a small group of people or primarily a solo effort like Braid, and Bastion. I'm a weird guy who likes really fucking hard platformer games. Games like Maximo, Crash Bandicoot 2 on 100 percent completion, Another World, Megaman, Tomb Raider, Castlevania, the list goes on. The great dynamic combat system makes this game a must-play 0
We're all aware that independent developer have to be imaginative. If you're dealing with a low-budget to make a game and come out with a profit you better have something good. Battlefield can excuse an on-rail shooter single player if they manage to make gamers reach orgasm by glancing at it. Independent developers need to come up with games like Dust: An Elysian Tail. A Masterful Game with a Gripping Story 0
I'm usually not too keen on melodrama. It always comes off as far too goofy for even me who listens to Sabaton who are just wonderful if cheesier than a pizza. Every so often however I can be taken in by a far too melodramatic story. My favorite game is Persona 4 after all so I can certainly appreciate melodrama in the right amount. Dust is amazing. The only drawback I would list is that the combat appears pretty shallow and button-mashy at first. Just give it some time though and it opens up a bit more. I, personally, had an amazing time trying to stay air born for as long as possible. The story, both in how it is told and thematically, are super solid. The content is actually quite mature and will, as it did me, catch you off guard plenty of times.Great game if you're a fan of the genre or not....

Let me first by stating that this is everything I wanted Odin Sphere to be.This is a semi open world 2D RPG with mechanics not dissimilar to a fighting game.- Great art style, the game is gorgeous- really fun/ in depth mechanics in dealing with enemies- the soundtrack, my goodness, I listen to it while playing other games due its epicness.I believe this game suffers from the Psychonauts syndrome.
