Cao Cao was a warlord and government official of China's late Han Dynasty. Later in life, he gained control of China's northern plains, which he ruled as Wei, one of three kingdoms of the fractured nation.
Cao Pi was the first emperor of Wei in the Three Kingdoms era of China and the son of the warlord Cao Cao. His appearances in video games are largely inspired by his role in the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
One of Cao Cao's trusted retainers. Cao Ren would gladly sacrifice his life to help his lord.
A character from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, she is one of the two Qiao sisters of the Kingdom of Wu. In Koei's Warriors series, she fights using twin fans.
Deng Ai was a general who served under Wei during the Three Kingdoms era of ancient China. He appears as a playable character in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series and a non-playable character in Dynasty Warriors before the Dynasty Warriors 7, at which point he became playable.

Infamous tyrant of the 3 Kingdoms era, his eventual downfall came from his greatest warrior betraying him. Character based on a historical figure from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story.
A legendary warrior from ancient China. He was originally depicted as a snake with a human head.
Gan Ning was a general in the kingdom of Wu and is a playable character in the DW series. Before joining the Wu, he was a Pirate.
Gongsun Zan was a major warlord during the Three Kingdoms Era of ancient China. He is playable in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series of games.
Adopted son of Guan Yu. Follows his father anywhere.
Guan Yu was a general serving under Liu Bei of the Kingdom of Shu. He is one of the best known historical figures throughout East Asia.
Guo Huai is an officer of the Three Kingdoms era who served Wei. He is a playable character in Dynasty Warriors 7 and considered part of the Jin faction.
A powerful warrior in the service of Dong Zhuo, Hua Xiong was regarded as his greatest warrior before Lu Bu came along. In Koei's games, and in the novel he was killed by Guan Yu.
A strategist during the Three Kingdoms Era of ancient China. He appears as a playable character in almost every Romance of the Three Kingdoms title, and as an NPC in every Dynasty Warriors title from Dynasty Warriors 2, until Dynasty Warriors 7 where he became playable.
Jiang Wei was a general who served Shu in the Three Kingdoms era of ancient China. He is a playable character in both the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Dynasty Warriors video game series.
Leader of Shu forces, sworn brother to Zhang Fei and Guan Yu. He believes that the people of the land deserve justice and support.
Lu Bu is a mighty general from the Three Kingdoms Era of China and has been immortalized in such games as the Dynasty Warriors series and Warriors Orochi. With his trusty horse Red Hare by his side, he rides into battle without fear.
Shu's most powerfull fighter. Believes his spear will carve a path of justice through the wicked. One of the Five Tiger Generals of the Shu
Ma Dai was a general who served Shu during the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. He is the cousin of the famous Shu "Tiger General" Ma Chao. He is a playable character in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series and Dynasty Warriors series.
Nu Wa is a Chinese mythological Goddess known for creating mankind and repairing the wall of heaven. As well as appearing in various literature including the Fengshen Yanyi, she also appears as a playable character in Koei's Dynasty Warriors 3 and Warriors Orochi 2.
Shu's illusionist. He loves to use nature to trick enemies.
Strategist for the Wei forces. Just as ruthless as Cao Cao and easily sacrifices his own men to set a trap.
Sun Ce is from the Dynasty Warriors series. He is the first son of Sun Jian.
Sun Quan is from the Dynasty Warriors series. He is the second son of Sun Jian and first emperor of Wu empire.
A character from the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, she has been popularized in games such as the Dynasty Warriors series. She is the daughter of Sun Jian and sister of Sun Ce and Sun Quan, the rulers of Wu.
A Wu general, he would meet his fate at the hands of Zhang Liao. Character based on a historical figure from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story.
Soldier under Liu Bei in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. A popular man-beast character in the Dynasty Warriors and Warriors Orochi games. He is most notably seen wearing a mask with teeth and wielding a double bladed pike for destroying his enemies twice as efficiently.
Styled Yuanrang, he is the cousin and loyal vassal of Cao Cao. A stalwart member of the Wei forces during their formative years, he is best remembered today through his portrayal in the Dynasty Warriors franchise.
