@atomic_dumpling: Who ever said I'm excited about THOSE games? The only one I'd care about in that list is God of War 3, but only because I'm a huge fan of the first two - YET I still admit that the gameplay is getting fucking old.
Anyway, sequels are sequels. They're not exactly original. There's this stigma. But somehow, for some reason, Nintendo Fanboys think their sequels are better than all other sequels, and think it's ok for Nintendo to keep shelling out sequels, while Sony and Microsoft are "hacks" for doing the exact same thing.
OH, and this whole 3D bullshit is such a damn gimmick.
That was definitely good show overall. Zelda wasn't looking too hot, but from Golden Sun on it was mostly impressive stuff. My highlights were definitely Epic Mickey, the Kirby trailer, and 3DS which was extremely impressive. Also, that trailer for 3DS with Iwata, Shiggy, and Reggie was one of the best trailers ever released for anything, ever.

Great conference, but reggie needs to go guys. he's so fucking monotone and...just terrible. he sucks on the stage big time. they need to hire pro's, the best so far were the ESPN guys at MS briefing.
no pikmin 3 is kind of a bummer. but can't really complain with all the other games. DKCR looks cool, i played the shit out of DKC. and generally just pumped for the 3DS, initial impressions seem like it works and looks awesome.

I'm not defending Nintendo, I'm saying that every company is doing the same shit and fanboys of all 3 consoles defend sequels as much as these supposed Nintendo ones.
Saying 3D is a gimmick is like saying color or stereo sound are gimmicks (which people did say), eventually it will be good enough that it will be the standard.
@Danterion: You're wrong in some aspects. Yes, there's a brazillion amount of mario games. But c'mon, it's a vastly wide array of concepts, gameplay, formulas, genres and innovattions. It's not the same thing over and over again.

You have a point, Nintendo seems to bank on Nostalgia quite a lot. Then again, they've proven that when they really try, they can still make great games out of old franchises. And Kid Icarus looked pretty interesting to me. Guess we'll just have to see if they play as well as they evoke nostalgia.
Nintendo went a bit nuts there with pulling out games. And while most of them are nostalgic, they were really good games at the time and the new versions look just as good if not hopefully better. Much like how New Super Mario Bros Wii plays. I'm a little skeptical on GoldenEye, but Donkey Kong looks fun, Kid Icarus could be good, Epic Mickey looks great. Zelda could be good, but the demo was plagued with technical issues. And Mario Xtreme Beach Volleyball better have realistic Wario breast bouncing.
@Winternet: Did you play New Super Mario Bros? Nothing exactly "new" about it, other than a fresh coat of paint, IMO. Yet it sold a bajillion copies on the DS, and then a double-bajillion copies on the Wii, even though it's the same thing, but with broken multiplayer.
Nintendo are smart because they realized how stupid their fans can be. No matter how good or bad their classic franchises have become, they know the fans will buy it anyway, out of sheer nostalgia. And nostalgia can even fool the dumber fans into thinking the bad games are actually good.
That's why Nintendo makes so much money, really. They realized how easy it is to trick people. Of course, the same can be said about Microsoft and their damn US$60,00 games, but that's another story with another type of consumer.
@Danterion: Well, when some 1st/ 3rd person shooter announces a sequel with say 2-player or 4-player co-op people say "Fuck Yeah" *cough* Gears of War 3 *cough*. So, why shouldn't new super mario do the same? And if it wasn't that big of a deal, or if the game didn't feel good and all, why the great reviews from the specialized media? And I don't want to even mention galaxy 2.
I thought it was an excellent press conference. They announced a bunch of games which i didn't see coming. Also i want a 3DS now please. With or without the lady attached i don't mind.
I'm ridiculously high and just read this wholeee thing backwards fuck. Otherwise, this was a ridiculous list of announcements. Nintendo even proved true a serious list of rumors on that 3DS, with more stuff on top. That's big. Movies, Cross compatible with early titles maybe?, day 1 content, 3D screen, cameras, pictures? wtf. this E3 is about to be ridiculous
Yup, gotta get me a Wii now. Haven't thought that to myself since its release. My inner geek was squealing like a school girl. They had me at Donkey Kong. Pretty much everything that I've wanted to see from Nintendo for the last 4 years was shown today. Very excited about the 3DS. Kid Icarus?! SWEET!! And did I see Star Fox come flying outta there during that vid? If it's all it's cracked up to be it'll be the first hand-held I've ever purchased. FINALLY Nintendo is catering to my tastes. So far I give Microsoft a B-. Some great games were shown, ESPN is a BIG draw for me, a new slim console and Kinect has me interested in seeing what developers can do. Nintendo gets an A+. Stellar lineup of some updated old favorites, Epic Mickey, GoldenEye and a new handheld. Sony has ALOT to live up to after these two pressers.

Nintendo won E3 by doing the exact opposite of what it did the last few years. And Microsoft lost by doing exactly what Nintneod has been doing for the past few years. Incredible.
