Well EA had a good few years of me liking them before they went full circle again. I don't care for their sports games, but I know if this takes off they will try to push this shit on all of their games, so here's hoping it crashes and burns.

What's the point of getting mad about something you don't plan on purchasing?  If it's a bad deal, you don't buy it, and then it goes away.  If you don't buy it, they change it until the value is such that you do buy it.

Video game players seem like they have no control over their money.  Whenever a company makes some low-value product, they bitch and moan like they don't have the option to just not purchase it.  If a game isn't a good value, you don't purchase it, you don't really have any reason to be upset.

Not cool. I hope that 2K will be able to make another NFL game sometime in the future. The monopoly and price gouging is getting tiresome and sickening. Nobody is just happy with selling a game anymore. It's all about options and exclusives... It's almost like buying a goddamn car.

As long as EA keeps up with the content, I don't see how this could be a problem. I'm sure people that will want to pay for this will, and the people that don't want to pay for it don't have to.

I do especially like that whole carrying over paid content to the next newer title. That's definitely a feature that makes sense.

Imagine when you'll be able to do that with COD when they roll out their subscription plan. ALL MAPS!

Well, I'd be angry if I played any EA sports games, which I do not. The only sports games I play are the NBA 2K series, so I'm good.

I know people who buy EA's NHL game every single year as their only game for the year and I'm confident they will continue to buy them regardless of subscription fees.

This is going to be rolled into Battlefield 4 at the latest.

I was going to say this doesn't sound bad until I realized that it doesn't include the actual game. 

I'm not much of a sports game player, but if I were to pay for a subscription for one, I'd rather have stuff like in game player stats that are derived from the player's current stats and updated at least once a week.  Subscribing for discounts is kinda retarded.

One day I will pay extra, I just know it. My time will come.

Nope, but I sympathize with you guys who do.

If it was on a sport-by sport basis, say i could subscribe to all the fifa games, then perhaps i would. But i can't help but feel i won't be getting my moneys worth if i only play one of the franchises.

Screw EA, they need to be boycotted hard....

I'm guilty of playing Madden every year, but the DLC always seemed like a complete waste of money.  So paying for a discount on something worthless to me...  Naw.

If it meant I could buy this year's titles and just pay the subscription to keep getting Roster Updates, for next year on, I'd be all for it. Hopefully it's all explained at E-3.

This just seems like a natural progression of their current plans.  From DLC and Preorder bonuses, to the Gun Locker and such this just their standard MO.  Is it a good thing?  Eh.  I don't like or dislike it, but I am wary of it.

I'm looking forward to Battlefield 3, but I don't want to buy a subscription to get a DISCOUNT on DLC.  I could see buying a subscription FOR the DLC. (I.e. I get all the maps when they launch without having to spend money again) I also like the idea of being able to "forward" my Guns for instance to the next game in the series.  They already do this kind of stuff as pre order bonuses so my sub should give me all those pre order bonuses since, hey I technically DID pre-order since I have their sub. 

Of course they won't do this so.  *Sigh*

...People they aren't forcing you to pay for stuff, you can, but don't have to. Me personally I don't care at ALL about DLC for sports games. Put in some NCAA and you play with people there's nothing that I would subscribe to for extra stuff. People upset about this either read this article wrong, or...are just ignorant. Straight Up!

This is a pay for additional content model. It's pretty close to the Whiskey model of subscribers paying for content that it pricey to create in addition to the main content, but has a smaller user base. If anyone gets snarky about this at Whiskey media, or writes condescending things about charging people looking for additional content, while not taking anything on offer away from their previous release list of content, I'll be pretty upset. This is a legitimate business model for providing additional content their hardcore audience wants, but would otherwise provide no additional financial returns.

Video games are getting too complicated for older casual players. All these services upon services are stupid. I just want to play a game!

I remember hearing Peter Moor talk about this in a story on Joystiq a while back. I think I remember hearing something about expanding it across all EA games as well, somewhere, though I can't say for sure.

I usually play FIFA quite alot, but I would never sign up for subscription. And the only DLC it ever had was Ultimate Team, which was free for 11, so yeah...

EA is wrong I don't like there Sports games except for EA MMA
