Elysian Shadows

Overview

Elysian Shadows is a indie 2D role-playing game currently in active development taking inspiration from several games such as Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana and the older Final Fantasy games. Elysian Shadows has a focus on active, action-oriented combat instead of the traditional turned based seen in other games in the genre.

Due to the game's programming base, the graphics library LibGyro, the game is able to be published to several different platforms such as PC, Mac, Linux, Sega Dreamcast, iOS and Android platforms.

The game is being prepped for its Kickstarter which is slated to begin sometime in the Summer of 2014.

Elysian Shadows has seen on and off development for several years.

Combat

The combat for Elysian Shadows is said to be similar to that of Secret of Mana, but with more emphasis on the game's realistic physics engine and advanced AI. The combat is supposed to be party based, as several party members have already been designed.

Story

Not much is known of the game's setting or story since much is being kept secret. What is known that there is a split in society. One group, the religious zealots, are bestowed magic by "The Creator" while the other group relies on technological advancements to live their lives. The player, after discovering an ancient artifact, is thrust amidst this conflict and must discover the secrets of the ancients to prevent catastrophe.

Sound

The game will boast a unique soundtrack that mixes the classical MIDI feel with a modern synthesizer touch. The game's music will weave itself in and out depending on the situation making the game feel very immersive.
