Elysion is considered by many to be the heart of the continent, a center of cultural history and political influence. It is home to several important institutions: The Congress, the Academy, the Temple and two Remnants -- The Sacred Lands and The Ark.
Congress
Congress is a political society composed of all the Lords of the different cities, each with their own corresponding Remnant. The establishment of this governing bodyhas only reinforced the gap between the powerful, those with fairly free access to Remnants, and those without. The chairman of the congress is Duke Hermeien of Nagapur, a clever, calculating man with a cold kind of ambition.
The Academy
This the center of Remnant research worldwide and the place in which the most important advancements concerning the ancient technology have been made. John and Marina Sykes are two of the foremost researchers in the institute. There are persistent rumors of illicit Remnant research within the halls of the Academy, and a mage named Wagram is often mentioned in connection with efforts to exert a more militaristic control over Remnants. Duke Hermeien is the chairman of this institute as well, serving to further increase his power and influence.
The Temple
In Elysion lies the Temple, a facility dedicated to the preservation of the legend of Marion Marshall, the women who planted the seeds of Remnant culture with her ability to bind them.
Remnants
The two primary Remnants present in Elysion are The Sacred Lands and The Ark. The Sacred Lands are a vast, winding series of white spires extending in the heavens. They are commonly considered to be the location of the afterlife and the place souls reside after death. Due to their massive size and mysterious nature, The Sacred Lands are under constant study by The Academy. The Ark is a device used to transport people to the aforementioned Remnant and is only used once every months. At one point, The Conqueror uses his great power to bind The Ark in a show of force, attempting to convince Congress to provide him with a Remnant of his own.
