Epic Games Unveiling “Surprising” New Franchise This Weekend
It doesn't have space marines, it has regular water marines because it's a modern military FPS. The multiplayer will have perks.
$20 it's going to be related to the last tech demo they put out that looks like a cross between Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell.

@XenoZak: Can't have Space Marines without Space.
You're right! Except there is Space. Seeing as Sera (the planet you're on) is a colony world I kind of have to come to the conclusion there's space. And Spaceships. Just cause you don't go there in the game doesn't mean there isn't space!
Also Space Marines on land are still Space Marines. They are only in space in big ships too...
Thinking about this way too much...
It sounds pretty awesome. I know what it is and I'm really looking forward to it. Very different direction for the company.

I don't think Epic has made any game with space marines.
They published the Warhammer 40k knock-off RTS 7th Legion back in 1997, and all the Unreal- and Gears of War games have prominently featured bald space marines.
@Voshterkoff: I hadn't seen that. Pretty awesome. It's got a real Human Revolution vibe to it, but you're right. Human Revolution was very obviously inspired by Ghost in the Shell.
Can't wait to go on the Internet and find out what it is instead of actually watching the VGAs! Thanks Internet!
This is the game Eric Holmes, lead guy on Prototype, came to do at Epic. However, he's since left Epic, so this Lee Perry guy has taken over. Curious to see what it is.
I would cry a tear of joy the day they make a new Jazz Jackrabbit. I'm sure it would suck as they try to modernize every aspect of it, but there would be a small window of awesome.

You do know that Sera is basically an alternate form of Earth. There is no evidence of space travel capabilities in the Gears universe.

Well, the GOW dudes display the classic tropes of space marines whether they're space traveling or not, there clearly is space travel in the Unreal games though, as the first starts off with you crash landing a space ship on an alien planet, Unreal II starting with you landing at a remote outpost on another planet and the recurring low gravity space theme in the Unreal Tournament games.

Nothing too interesting yet, but there it is.

A dating sim where Marcus tries to get Dom over his wife's death? Uhhhhh....
Ha-ha, that was my first though, too. I imagined something like The Bachelor but with bullets instead of roses.
