Eternal Sonata
Game » consists of 10 releases. Released Jun 14, 2007
Eternal Sonata is a fantasy RPG developed by tri-Crescendo that tells an alternate history story of Frédéric Chopin's final moments.
Eternal Sonata is the bomb.
"is it a giant bomb?"lol
I hear the game is pretty good.
No offense, but shouldn't this be a blog though?
"The dialogue is horrendous. Gameplay was WAY too easy."I don't think most people play an RPG for the gameplay.

uhh... I do. I play rpgs for the gameplay, the story, the graphics, the sound, everything.
Am I the only one here who enjoys turn based combat?

I loved the style as well. The graphics look excellent, as do the sounds.
As someone said, it is WAY too easy. It's probably the easiest game I've ever played. I never had a single game over or continue through the whole game, and even the optional bosses in the optional dungeon were dispensed pretty easily.
I'd still recommend it to anyone curious about it.
"LightYagami245 said:nope, I liked turn based in FFX, and FFXII's switch to real time was irritating at first, but I got used to it."duxup said:"The dialogue is horrendous. Gameplay was WAY too easy."I don't think most people play an RPG for the gameplay."

the only real time element in XII was that you could run around in real time, but other than that it was still turn-based... actually running around did little to nothing in terms of strategy too.. it's not like you could dodge attacks or anything, it was just to make you feel like you had freedom...
Enchanted Arms... Grr, man did I think that game was really weak (sorry if someone here really liked it). Blue Dragon wasn't great, but I liked it more than Enchanted Arms.
Out of the three of them I'd have to say Eternal Sonata was the most enjoyable hands down. It's definitely the shortest of the three, but the collaboration of an enjoyable combat system, beautiful visuals, great music, and a tribute to a legendary musician make it the most unique in my humble opinion.

"Have you played Blue Dragon? by the time you fight the final boss your team is so overpowered that you can defeat him without him ever taking a single move.. now that's easy..
I just ordered Eternal Sonata and can't wait to play it.. I also have Enchanted Arms on the way as well."
I finally picked it up about 2 weeks ago but can't seem to get into it. How far into the game does it start to pick up?
I strongly disagree with the thread title, for the following reasons:
- Pallette swapped versions of the 5 same enemies
- A A A A A A A A A Y every turn
- Why do I have to get water for this stupid girl's flowers? This is dumb.
- Everyone holds their hands out like they just washed them and are looking for a paper towel
- We should go in that house *PAUSE* *PAUSE* *PAUSE* *PAUSE* I agree *PAUSE* *PAUSE* *PAUSE* Let's go!
- Animu dying Chopin's magical rainbow land adventure
- Everyone's names fit a musical motif, which would be cool if it weren't totally stupid
- WHY AM I FIGHTING THIS FUCKING GOAT AGAIN? WHY IS IT GREEN THIS TIME? A A A A A A A A Y TAKE THAT GOAT!
It certainly did look & sound nice, though, but that only takes you so far.

Even if you are 3 feet away from the enemy, if they attack you, it still hits.
God, it's been forever since someone described something as "the bomb". Seems like "the shit" is starting to go out of style too (and for good reason, it's terrible).
Do we get "the balls" next? Or are we going to wrap back around to "the bee's knees"? Yeah, I'd like that. These new consoles are the bee's knees, man!
At least it would humor me instead of make me sigh in disappointment.
Uh, I never played Eternal Sonata. Always heard that it was an OK JRPG.
@believer258: It's the shit.
@believer258: It's the shit.
I think that's false, as a most reputable source has told me that Haze is "the shit". Because it's 2008.
So i'm seeing a lot of people saying this game is easy, would this be a good game for someone who's never played many turn based rpgs? I ask because playing through Costume Quest again has really made me want to give more turn based rpgs a chance (i used to hate them when i was younger). Also any suggestions for turn based rpgs for beginners is welcome.

I would think so. It is pretty easy, but thankfully not too easy in my opinion. I feel it strikes a nice balance of providing a simple, fun challenge without ever feeling dumb or cheap.
As for other suggestions, Lost Odyssey is simply a phenomenal game any and all rpg fans should check out. Blue Dragon seems somewhat divisive, but I really liked it. Valkyria Chronicles is probably my favorite game of all time and up there with Lost Odyssey as a game I think everyone should play, but I won't sit here and lie to you. Some of the levels in that game are downright cheap. The Breath of Fire games are really fun. Can't go wrong with most of the Final Fantasy games out there of course.
@babychoochoo: Right on duder, thanks for the suggestions.
